.060 OVER ON 351W

I found a 1969 351w that's had all the machining done and clearanced for a stroker. Hasn't been used since the machining and I can pick it up for around $550. I'm just unsure of the .060 overbore.

Any opinions would be appreciated. Thanks in advance

.060 over isn't too much? How much boring can the 351 windsor's handle?

no it isnt too much. it's probably about as far as id go with one but you will be ok

I wouldn't get it. You don't know what the thickness is on the cylinder walls, being bored .060 over. Not to mention the fact that you could probably find a complete late model 351W engine with a roller block that still runs for that price.

Thanks for the opinion on the bore, but as for the roller running roller engine I'm sure I could find one. The only thing with that is I was gonna stroke it and by the time I buy the engine and have machine work done I'll be at the price. I don't want to use just a stock 351 shortblock or engine.

I ran a .060 overbore 351 W for a couple of years without any problems at all. It was a newer block that I got out of a 86 F150. I would think that the older block would have a little better materials in it (strength wise)....
