08 Bullitt or 08GT

The Bullitt is a fantastic deal. I ran the numbers last Friday.

Canada:
It's a $4495 option that includes or replaces the following that you would pay extra for on a GT:
18" wheels @ $900
Leather and Comfort group package @ $1400
IUP @ $895

So basically, you're paying $1300 for all the performance mods, appearance mods and exclusivity. (Unfortunately, the Bullitt is no loger listed on ford.ca)

USA:
ford.com lists the Bullitt option as $3310. Since the GT Premium includes leather, for a comparable GT you need to add:
18" wheels @ $925
IUP @ $460

Thus you are paying $1925 for all the performance mods, appearance mods and exclusivity.

A cold air intake, computer retune, gears, springs, shocks, exhaust and a short throw shifter...all with a factory warranty for under $2000.

Within a month of two you should be able to get a Bullitt for MSRP at pretty much any small town dealership, these cars do not have the cachet of the Shelby name.

No markup here, and most others haven't marked them up, either, from what I've heard. They're technically supposed to be ordering for customers and not for the lot, so they shouldn't be marking them up, either.

Actually, the Bullitt has quite a few upgrades for the money. Many more than, say the Shelby GT. Most dealers are offering the Bullitt at MSRP, as well. It's only a few grand more than the GT and comes with a nice list of upgrades, along with a better sounding exhaust.
Many more than the Shelby GT. I really don't think so !

As the Bullitt doesn't offer the Hurst competition shifter (plus) nor the complete FRPP handling pack, except for the revised rear springs.

As for it's intake which supposedly draws in cooler air. It's MAF is only 81-83mm in dia. which doesn't flow as well, when compared to the 90mm Steeda/FRPP intake. thanks to it's S-curved inlet design.

However on the other hand. The Bullitt is definitely by far. the better overall value
at $32,090 as opposed to the Shelby GT at $37,065 :nice:

No the deal isn't that bad considering price vs. the shelby GT. But I still say you can get more for the money for a GT and a few bolt ons.

I bought my GT for invoice in 06 and have done all the mods in my sig and still have less in the car than bullitt MSRP. And I would MUCH rather have my particular mods than the factory bullitt stuff. But that's just me.

The Bullitt has a lot of interior upgrades and some may appreciate it but that's just something I don't care anything about.

For $32,000 there's nothing that stands out on the car to me. The only thing I really like about the car is the 3.73 gears which I would be swapping for 4.10. LOL Personally I would go the cheapest route (GT) and spend my money on mods that I specifically want. But to each his own.:nice:

I stopped by a local dealership and inquired about the 2008 Bullitt. I told the salesman that I was interested in purchasing 2008 Bullitt and I wanted to know if the X-plan can be applied since Ford did not list this vehicle as a vehicle that was ineligible for the X-plan. Only the GT500 and Shelby GT were listed as ineligible. He said he was not sure so he asked the sales manager. The sales manager shook his head and said "No. The Bullitts will be priced $10,000 over MSRP." I smiled and said, "Thanks." I started walking to the showroom exit and the salesman said, "Wait- does that influence you in buying a Bullitt? I replied, "Yeah, I'm not paying $10,000 over MSRP for a $3,000 package that was already figured into the MSRP. He gave his card and told me to call him if I change my mind. Ridiculous. Hopefully when the new Challengers and Camaros hit the market the stealerships will be less greedy.

discount plans

I think each dealer gets to make the call.

A good friend of mine, who works for Ford, just picked up a Bullitt that he purchased on the employee (I think it's A?) discount plan. The dealer was asking sticker, he asked about A plan, they said ok, he put down his deposit and bought the car.

I just ordered an 08 gt premuim, I really wanted the bullit but it was out of my price range. I wanted a bullit just to say I had one! The place I ordered my gt from had bullits at 30,800 but I got my gt premium for 24,600 so I am happy. BTW, what is the x-plan?

I also just went with the GT over the Bullit. Both are nice cars, but GT is better buy for the money right now. If the Bullit had 400 horse, I would have gotten that. Plus some options I wanted were not availible on the Bullit.

Bullits are awesome, just depends what you want.

just my opinion,

... just moments away from signing for a 2008 Bullitt I realized this >>>>>>

Bullitts are for someone seeking a limited production vehicle ,,, one that is going to hold its value a bit more than a GT and as such, it should not be modified in any irreversible way ...

the 'GT' is more of a fun car and a daily driver, something that you can personalize and treat like a work in progress / never quite finishing.
