1/4 mile 2006GT500

I'm reading road & track today and I'm told that the new 2006 mustang GT500 runs in the mid 12s. The mustang cobra with 390 HP runs in the 12s. I'm sure there is more to it then we are being told, whats your thoughts.

If you check Road & Track, the 03 Cobra was probably listed at 13.0 or something similar. These magazines never seem to get the numbers Mustang mags get. Hot Rod ran like a 13.3 in an 03 while MM&FF ran a 12.6. Granted different tracks and conditions have alot to do with the outcome but people who are familiar with Mustangs can drive them much better on the track.

That car should run consistent 12.2-12.3 with the right driver.

Everybody knows they will under rate the GT500. IT will be fast as hell. It better be, becaue I took a ride in a brand new Z06, and it was extremely fast. That car has a 7.0L motor and pulls like no other. They claim low 11's and I believe it! However, I am confident the GT500 will easily compete with the new Z06.

This guy I know is a customer of mine, and he works for a company that is hooked up through GM. Most of the time he transports (drives) high end cars from dealer to dealer. But this time, this particular Z06 had an oil leak, and they were having a hard time fixing it, and he got to be the one that test drove the vehicle after the 2nd time oil started leaking. He stopped up at my work, and said "get in." The sad thing about this Z06, is that they never fixed the leak and they are giving it to an executive for a week, then they are crushing it. But you are right, they are not out untill the fall. This was about 1 month and a half ago, and every week he comes in, I still thank him for that!!

I very seriously doubt the upcoming 2007 GT500 will be able to compete with the new ZO6. Yes I know that people will be throwing a smaller pulley/CAI/Cat-back on the new Cobra and making some good numbers, but stock for stock the '07 Cobra won't be able to compete with the new ZO6.
