1st Time at the track with my Mustang.

Ran a best of [email protected] with a 1.90 60ft

Lots of 13.2-13.3 runs @ 103-104 all in the 1.9 60fts.

Mods are listed below. Car runs very consistant. But I am having trouble really nailing the launch.

This is my 2nd time to the track ever (last time was 99)
This was Hagerstown/ Mason Dixon

What is the altitude there anybody know?

I was happy, although I was really hoping for 12.xx . It seems pretty quick for a stock bottom end 120k 302.

Car has never been tuned and no chip. I am at 38psi fuel/12 deg timing
at the Drag radials at 14psi.No short belt, all accesories and 3/4 tank of gas.

Shifting around 6k. My better times where shifting above 5800-6000.

Opinions, I think the car has more in it but I will be adding a Kenne-Bell Blowzilla in the next couple of weeks, So this will probably be my only NA runs.

Matt...I've looked at your dyno graph very closely and its is VERY close to mine. I really think your car should have another 4mph in it. Good news is that I think its all in the tuning...mess with FP, timing, and work on your driving and it'll show up.

What was the temperature like there? Also...600' is not enough to make a difference, I know as my home track is exactly 600'.

We have almost the exact combo. I'm running a Pro M 80mm mass air vs. your 77mm and I'm running 1.7 rockers. I hope to get it on a dyno by the end of the year.

How does it idle? Are you having any issues with drivability? I'm not happy with my idle, it seems to load up a bit too much.

FWIW I think a tune or a JMS chip will get you into the 12's. However, some guys with combos/hp similar to ours are getting 12's without a tune/chip. I think with some more practice your 60's will go down and 12's will be there.

I didn't see what rear gears you were running?

Thanks for the input. The car pulls very very hard out of the hole. I pulled most other cars until the 1/8 th and my 60's where good compared to most others racing. I got to where I was consistant in the 1.9-1.95 60's and even guys on slicks where only getting 1.75's so maybe not to bad there. I wanted to launch a little higher but the stock clutch probably wouldnt like it. I bogged a little off the line but if I launched harder my 60ft went up and I lost ET. Seems like a very delicate game. I am definately going to get a line lock, for a decent burnout to evenly heat the DR's

I am running 3.73's with upper and lower LCA's and welded SFC's.

Up top the car seemed strong too, I would like to see a little more on the trap speed..106-107 maybe. The timing is an issue. As the morning went and the track and tires got better my motor got hotter. I Iced down the intake a few times but the motor was running around 220. I didn't want to detonate and was conservative on the timing. I think if I can get the temp down to around 200 I can advance it up a couple of degrees and add a little fuel and see what happens.

I am going to compare this to my 99 Z28. I ran a faster ET than it does with street tires but the trap speed on my LS1 is 106+ indicating more HP and top end. The Mustang is by far easier to launch. I would have taken my LS1 up to the 1/8th But the 1/4 the LS1 is ahead. It really takes some work to get the 5.0 really fast, but its fun working at it and I enjoy playing with the car.

This will be the only chance to run the car NA. I will be adding the 2200 Kenne-Bell blowzilla and upgrading the cooling system and driveshaft in the next couple of weeks. Then I can beat up on my Camaro :)

220*??? That's your problem right there. Run the car at 150-160 and I'd bet you'd see a minimum of 105+mph trap speed. Do yourself a favor, before you put the blower on, go back to the track and let the car cool until it gets to the 150* range on an autometer gauage, or around the first bracket before the N of normal. You WILL go faster, enough that I think it will warrent another trip to the track just to show yourself how well it actually does run. 220* is WAY too hot, hell even at 200 mine is a pig. With my new rad and such I NEVER go above 180* and the car LOVES it and runs MUCH better at the track and on the street.

What type of fuel pump you got??? I still got the stock on and running 104mph also with AFR165's and cobra Intake. Mine is do to stock pump i bet.... October theres a track rental a bunch of us are going to so i'm going to raise the full pressure and see if i can fix my issue.

Cooling has always been a big issue, I just removed the AC from the car including the condenser. I think the radiator may just be old and inefficent. But I am going to upgrade it in the next week or two anyway.

I have a 255lph intank

My 1/8 was [email protected]

I would like to get back up to Mason Dixon and run it with some adjustments and maybe a short belt and less fuel in the tank....maybe 12.xx then.

Have to see if I can get the time. After all it is only my second time in 5 years
