He never said you were cheating.

All he stated was that the track may be faster because there is a slight downhill run to it. If someone wanted to get the best E.T. that would be the place to go since the car would generally run faster.

Nowhere did he say that's what you were doing though... remember, it's only the internet...

Yeah the only reason i race a Dragway 42 is so i can go around telling everybody my car is way faster than it really is. You caught me. My old 96 GT ran 15.3 every single run at 42 with full exhaust and intake. My 06 GTO ran a 13.2 after more than 15 passes down the track. Sounds about right. My 84 Mustang GT ran a 13.7 at Norwalk and yet i can't do better than a 14.0 at D42. My old 05 Cobalt SS ran no better than a 14.6 before the intake and TD, if anything that sounds a little slow. Don't even try to tell me I only ran a 13.7 because the track goes "down hill". I guess the 3v GT ran a 14.1 because he was racing down hill. Nothing pisses me off more than someone trying to tell me I cheated or that I'm full of ****.

He may not believe you but I do..

I will tell you why I believe it..

Your trap speed is exactly what I was trapping with a off road x and a K+N right around 101 with a good DA.. I went 13.8's with those mods with 60 foot times around 2.1-2.2

It's true, I was never saying you were cheating... I was just stating what I've observed and others that raced with me agreed. Not trying to start anything here, jeez. Have a beer.

It's ok, man It's hard to express things over the internet sometimes, and I ended up going out for a few drinks after work so I wasn't sure if it came off all booze-mouthed.

Yeah after reading his first post I'm not too sure why I got my panties in a bunch. I guess I'm just a little touchy today.

I'm not saying it was all that fast, I just wanted to know why the guys at the track were so surprised by it. Hopefully one of these day's ill learn to launch and run some better times.

It's learning to slip the clutch. Go to an empty parking lot(concrete, not asphalt) and work on it. There should be very little change in RPM's throughout the first second or two of the launch, and no bog or spin. With that trap speed and how fast that track is, you should be able to knock another 3 tenths off.

It's possible.. depends on the DA..

My old 01 stock gt went 13.90@99.8 with a 2.1 60 on a unpreped track.. but the DA was near 0

That was at new england dragway back in april of 05

I wish I went up with that car on a Saturday or Sunday when they actually tried to get the track to hook.

Yea, well according to dragtimes.com, the DA for that track on April 3 sometime in the afternoon was between 2500 and 2700 ft, hardly a good DA....The best times I have put down were with negative DA, negative 1600 to be exact.

Once again, I'm not debating that you ran these times or if your car is badass. But that ET is very fast for that DA, 60', and trap time. But I do suppose that you have proved that it is possible..

A quick google search. Again, I have no idea, I only comment on what I have experienced at the track, and I do go quite a bit and to different tracks. Just between San Antonio Raceway and Houston Raceway Park, it is almost a known fact that you are going to run .2 slower, regardless of DA and 60ft. However, you ran those times, you have a time slip to back it up, so your car runs 13.7's as long as you backed it up. My suggestion is to go to another track, Norwalk, ETC, this week, and post up the times. It will quickly put all doubt to rest, plus you can gain a little seat time and improve that 60ft.

not for nothing, and nothing personal against you emery. But dragway 42 is notorious for being an inaccurate track. Last ~200 feet of it are downhill and the timing systems for mph in the 1/8 and 1/4 mile are way off.

theres been alot of talk in the past about the timing system, about how they manipulate it, if they do so

I honestly don't know how fast it should be. Like I said that was my first run and first time at the track in this car. The only other reason i can think of is maybe I got a little back draft from the wind that day. I do know that the track is fairly accurate. The Cobalt SS/SC was running 14.5s, the other 2v cars were running low 14's, and the GTOs were running mid/low 13s. Please don't take it as me saying my car is some kind of animal or factory freak. I'll just have to take it to Norwalk Raceway and see if i get the same results.

You beat me to it. I guess I'm making a trip up to Norwalk if its open. Hopefully it's pretty consistent with D42. But ill honestly be happy even if it runs a 13.9.

Norwalk is a pretty nice track. When Fun Ford Weekend was still around it was amazing to head up there and check out a lot of super nice Mustangs!

Def take it up to Norwalk, but don't take any crap from the regulars up there!

Do you mean his runs or mine.. I don't remember the exact DA numbers from the days I ran my old car because it was years ago but my best times were with a DA near 0... I ran once on a day with a negative DA but I added time to those runs for it.

Like the OP my times were not impressive for sea level and the car had a lot more in it if I could have found a way to launch better on that track.. I got into a argument with a NED official over the condition of the track on street nights and he told me they don't want breakage so no trap prep.. I got one run in on a preped surface with that car ( first car that ran after a track rental) and I bogged it because it hooked for once.. Quickly got back in the pits but the track was garbage by then

With my new car I am only going on sat or sundays since that's when they prep the track.. NED does no prep on street nights so I am going to be a ass and run my slow ass 13 second car with the big boys on the weekends.

whats your definition of a lightly modded gt?? on street tires 13.7 is pretty good for just having a o/r pipe.. we all know the air filter does not do ****.
