OP other than slicks and gears what other things have been done to the car that you are aware of? Those are very respectable times. My old 89 ran that with gears,M&H tires,h pipe,pulleys,Southside lift bars,front sway bar removed,and bumped timing. Launched @35-4500 rpm and half the time it would bog bad or wrinkle the walls and squeak the tires and go. If you're not afraid of breaking and want to run the fastest(if you don't break something) try launching higher and higher rpms. With slicks I would start @4500 and maybe go as high as 5500 rpm. Now if this is a semi daily driver or you're afraid of breakage DO NOT DO THIS! Because eventually you'll grenade something. Also remove all extra weight ie front swaybar,spare tire,jack,floor mats,etc. For every 100 lbs removed you will go around .10 sec quicker. There have been a few "stockish" 5.0's into the low 13's. Without opening the engine at all. Now with heads,cam,Intake,long tube headers,etc and some good suspension high to mid 11's have been done. Good luck

keep in mind that removing weight from the rear of the car is not necessarily a good thing

What madspeed said. Concentrate on the front of the car for weight reductions. If your car is in descent shape I wouldn't gut it just for a .1-.2 reduction at the track. Ie a/c equipment,interior pieces,etc. If it's kinda hagged out and you want to make it a race car and basically only a race car then by all means knock yourself out. I just hate seeing fairly nice cars getting gutted. But if you are there is a few lbs in extra seats,carpeting,heater-a/c equipment,etc. Also if when you get to the point of suspension tubular k members are about 1/2-2/3 the weight of stock. Also speaking of suspension/etc--- hope you have sub frame connectors and torque box reinforcements. You will twist the frame and rip out the boxes if not. The torque boxes are located in the rear floor pan where the upper controll arms are connected to the pan. Fox bodies are notorious for ripping them up with hard launches. Also to get your first 60ft times down(which also make your 1/4 times quicker ie for every .1 off in 60ft=appx .2 off et) start looking for more drag specific suspension parts. Getting the chassis/suspension working with your tires is of the utmost importance to the quickest times. Along with more power of course

There doesn't seem to have anything modified under the hood . The cat converters have been cut out , exhaust looks bigger than stock .

My impression of stock was under the hood , but as I have learned here my car is far from stock .

I appreciate the advice , I will try launching it higher . It seemed when I did the weight transfer wasn't right .

The pulleys are stock and the a.c. works . I will be modifying it this winter for track use only .

I have removed all extra weight in the trunk but I didn't realize that 100 lb's = .10 . Another reason to go on a diet .

My tire pressure was 15.5 psi and I was shifting 5500 to 6000.

Thanks for the advice looking forward to hitting the track . I will keep you posted with the higher rpm launches.
