140 mph gauge cluster

Does anyone know the specific difference as far as the mechanics and which gears are different between the 85mph speedo and the 140mph speedo. I have a working 85 mph speedo and a 140 mph speedo that has an off balance bowl and weight. So i took the whole rear assembly off of the 85mph speedo and put it on the 140mph speedo. Will this work? I looked at everything and counted gears and could not find any differences b/w the 2

As far as I understand, the 85 would still read up to 85. I think it has to do with the driven gear. But I'm not super experienced it. Anybody else?

Nope. Won't work. All you did was stick a 140MPH gauge face on an 85MPH speedo.

You can send your 85MPH speedo out to be recalibrated.

Take the whole 140MPH speedo assembly out and put it in your guage cluster. It worked for me.

yeah the balancing weight and bowl on the back on the 140 was out of whack. so i took every piece possible apart and couldn't locate the part that was different. Any idea which gear it is?
