Well there ya go. Obviously stock, and obviously proven false.

The original question was about a t5 transmission - not the chassis, which is probably the only thing stock about that car.

According to road&track, a bone stock 87 gt will do 148 with 3.08 gears. http://www.stangbangers.com/87_MustangGTvsCamaroIROC-Z_Article.htm. I'm guessing the lighter and slighty more slippery lx's would do 150-ish

It's hard to say with mag times. It could have been a ringer...or perhaps it could have been the fact that they were using a prototype GT with lord knows what done to it. They also mention nothing about wind speed which can greatly effect top end. Keep in mind too that they were testing on a 7.5 mile track with no doubt monster straight-aways.

The point is...while that article is informative, there seems to be to much left to speculate. I certainly would not expect the same results from it's mass produced counterparts.

^ If they have, I hope they have a lot of suspension and brake mods. I start to get really nervous around 120. Especially if I hit a bump - 4 link rear + high speed + hitting a bump with only one rear tire = poop in pants.

(I live in Germany, so driving over 100mph is pretty normal for me - and I can tell you with a straight face that stock fox suspension and brakes are worthless at high speeds.)

Mine was up to 137ish and the front end does get pretty light. But with three other people in the car 120 isn't bad at all Stupid kids I wonder how my car would do now that it's lowered and stuff. Not anxious enough to try it though.
