what size tires do i need.
i want to have a fairly short tire up front and a kinda tall tire out back?

"True, you really don't have a hell of a lot of tire selection with 16's." true dat. thats why i kinda regret gettin 16" 94-98 stars for my five lug conversion. bfg makes a 255 dr thats 26.1" tall, thats what i'm gonna run an prob 225/55 or 60 front.
245/50/16 works for a bit bigger chunk of rubber on there
foxes dont look good with staggered tire sizes on stock wheels. if you do it right and have the right setup its all good but the wanna-be drag car look is poop
but thats my opinion and just like bungholes, everyone has one and they all stink.
I use to run 225/50's. They were a little narrow, but they looked good, and they handled great. When I replaced them, for whatever friggin reason, I went to a better tire, but also wider/higher. Went to a 245/50. Doesnt look nearly as good and now it rubs like a bitch. Wish I woulda kept it as a 225 but with better tires. Just my two cents.
