I've been thinking for probably the last 3 months about this. I'm wanting to put a set of the chrome deep dish 17x10.5,17x9 bullitt wheels on my coupe. I'm kinda old school and never could part with my drag stars but I think it's time for a change the bad thing is ive ran 15"s for so long I don't know dick about 17's, backspacing and deep dishes except 17s are 2 inches bigger. I've done tons of searches and came up with plenty of ya you cans and no you cants about what will fit. I need some "yes I've done it and it definitely works or definitely doesn't" advice. I'm looking at the set American Muscle has with the 17x9 275/40 in the front and the 17x10.5 315/35 out back. I have the Lincoln 5 lug front rotors and stock calipers, tube k member and coil overs, ranger 5 lug axles with drums and no quad shocks Pretty much what I need to know is will this set fit, what will it take to fit it, how much will I have to destroy to make them fit, will they rub and so on. Please help me out here folks!!

Out back, you need to run 5-lug drums or at least fox length axle rear disks. You are all set here. Just a matter of mounting up the wheel, and hammering the inner fender where there may be possible contact, as well as rolling the fender lips.

Up front, the issue may be running center caps with the SVO 5-lug rotors. You really don't want to run a spacer here as pushing the front wheel out will make the arc it sweeps through when you steer larger, increasing the amount of rub.

I wouldn't try running a 275/40/17 up front without major bodywork mods, like fender flares. Just too wide of a tire. I have rubbing issues with 245/45/17's on my '88. You can mount a 245 on a 9" rim. Slight stretch, but a 255 would be very tight.

Overall, that's a big wheel setup for a car designed with 14" and 15" in mind. Expect to have rub and need to clearance a few things....possibly even ditch the tailpipes

I want to measure mine. It doesn't look that tall.

You're going to rub. Unless you minitub the back there will be contact with your tails, shock mount, and possibly your fenders.

315 is probably not gonna happen.

But I got nitto 285's on a 10.5 and it fits. Can't speak for how it drives yet

How stretched are they? I tried ordering 290's for my 10.5s and American Muscle refused to mount them.

I like. I have the same wheels and 315s. Struggling to make life happy while they are in motion. Look killer on the driveway though. Next time you are under the car can you tell me how much distance you have between the tire and upper shock mount?

I have 17x9 Bullitts5 Lug (anthracite/machined lip) and they RUB at full wheel turn up front. The inside flange of the rim contacts the lower control arm.
It is only present at FULL wheel turn, none the less, it still rubs up front

Used to be more options about 5-10 years ago, but companies have cut back to what sells the most.

What style wheel are you looking for? I've seen guys get 275/40/17 up front on 17x9, but it requires careful wheel selection and some research.

In general, 17x8 with 245/45/17 seems a safe, common setup up front.

Crop the picture so that it's wider, rather that tall.

In the future, when taking cell pics, turn phone on side.
