Dropped my gt off at GTR high performance in ranch Cucamonga ca for some upgrades.. got sct tuner, CAI, magna flow cat back.. ended up getting 394rwhp on the dyno.. what would be the best bolt on upgrade next?
Keep in mind I live in california with smog.. want to stay legal..

So I've heard doing...
Pullies
Gears
Throttle body
Performance accell coil packs

What about ...
shorty headers
CA legal intake manifold?
Cam
Questions questions....

Ca limits everything... it sucks..

The ford racing power packs are 50 state legal, the stage 1 gets you a reusable filter for the stock air box and a ford racing tune, it runs about 500. Stage 2 gets you the GT 350 CAI with a conical filter, an 87 mm throttle body with adapter plate and the ford tune, it runs about 800. Stage 3 adds in the GT 350 intake manifold to the stage 2 and it runs about 2K

I just talked to JBA Speed shop here in San Diego and they said they have done 2 for the S550. They told me for the money it wasn't worth it. However if money is not a concern or tight they can do the install for 800 or so. It's a lot because of the welding. They also priced me at 800 for a tune for my '16.
I forgot to mention.. They said they have seen approx 10 to 15 hp on the dyno.

Your GT should of come with shorty headers from the factory.

Also, I do believe this is 50 states legal and doesn't void your warranty and gets you 670hp at the crank.

My research indicates shorty headers, equal length or not, are not much of an improvement over the oem headers. I took a real close look at mine while installing a H-pipe (resonator delete) and was impressed with quality and design. If I ever go FI, I'll probably go long tube, but not before.

To second 0335th - The Ford/Roush Supercharger would be the ticket in CA. Personally, I would lean towards the front intake 2.9L Whipple or equal. But, I'm not in CA.

Wheels look great.

I vote the blower route for our cars.

The other mods you listed aren't going to get you too much over stock.

i took a hard look at the intake upgrade, and you gain horsepower across the board but lose alot of torque where it counts IMO for a street car.

Have any of you done the GT 350 intake? I am thinking of going that route with cold air kit and long tube headers.

Yeah, I know. Add in some long tube headers and hang on!

Thank you guy's, what HP gains did you see from this intake, throttle body, headers, & tune did you get? I was talking to a tuner who told me that the throttle body doesn't add much and is hard to keep idle on a 5.0L

I haven’t dyno tested. I believe it’s about 20hp peak increase but 30 ft-lb torque at 2500 RPM. I don’t have headers installed. Just the pack2 with ProCal tune.

Idle has been great; actually smoother.

I'm getting mine dyno tuned later in June, had to make an appointment. Don't know what I had before, but I'll report what I get. Ford claims 23 rwhp and 40 ft lbs at 1500 rpm on 91 octane for the stage 2 power pack. LMR got 26 rwhp using 93 octane. I'm also running 93 cause you can't get 91 around here. I also have a resonator delete/x-pipe, a pair of ford racing sport mufflers, and stainless power long tube headers. I should be over 400 at the wheel, hoping to see 425. Factor in a 15% drive line loss with a manual and 425 whp means 500 at the crank.

BTW I saw a video on youtube where american muscle took a 18 GT and added a JLT cold air intake, corsa long tube off road headers, corsa 3" exhaust and an E-85 tune and got 509 rwhp. So they are getting roughly 599 at the crank.

Personally, I think ford way underrated the 18 GT engine or American muscle lied and did more to that 18 then they are saying. Cause there is no way you can gain 140 hp with just bolt ons and a tune

I tried just the 87mm throttle body and a CAI and a custom tune and it ran like crap at idle and part throttle. So I returned it all and got the stage 2 from ford racing. I figured if anyone can get the tune right, it would be the engineers at ford, and I was right. A bonus is that it is 50 state legal.
