What kind of performance gains will I see with 17x10.5 wheels with nitto 555r DRs? Will I lose any performance with that large of wheel and tire?(thats a lot of extra weight). In the spring I'm getting chrome 2003 cobra wheels with 17x9's with 255's and 17x10.5 with 315's, can't wait

ehh.... just take your jack out of the trunk to make up for the extra weight, & if you're feeling crazy do a rear seat delete

I have 17x10.5 rims with 315 drs...I didn't LOSE performance. I know guys who run DRs on 18x10.5 and still get plenty of performance out of them

Went from 16" wheels and 225 tires to 18" wheels and 275 tires and lost about 2mph in the 1/4. Thought it would be worse than that.

Simply going with wider tires might slightly slow you down from a roll but you will hook way better from a dead stop, which will certainly make up for it.

BTW, I would recommend at least 265 tires on 9" rims.

I agree completely. At LEAST 265's. I went with 275's and love them with the 315's out back

When I bought my set of tire/rims they came with 245's!!!! I didn't know much about tire sizes then but now I've realized that its wwwwaaaaayyyyy to nerrow plus it's just asking to get your rims scraped. It's ok now, I'm currently running 285's in rear and 245's in front.

Gotta love the 315's I only know one guy who did it though locally. Did you guys have to roll your fenders to do it?

Will 315's work if I lowered my car about 1 1/2"? I have chrome '95 cobra R's and I wanted to buy 2 of those fake ass aftermarket cobra R's thats are 10.5" wide and use 315 nitto DR's. You know for the weekend and at the track.
