I scored some nice 17x9 Cobra R wheels with 245/45/17 tires that I wanna throw on my 85 GT, however the wheels rub the front struts...how are these wheels supposed to fit? Are they the wrong size? Sorry for the "dumbness" of the question but I see these wheels on a lot of foxbodys and I really like the looks but they r too wide or something.

Measure your back spacing to see what you got going on

These wheels come with two back spacings 5.95" and 6.45 I have 5.95" and it sticks a little far out but my situation could be because my front end isn't aligned yet

Most people are going to have issues. Part of the reason is dealing with front fenders and fenderwells originally designed around 14" and 15" wheels.

I never had an issue with my front. I have a 9" wheel, 245/45 as well. The only time I ran into an issue, is when I lowered it this past weekend. I rub on my inner fender well, but that would happen even if I ran a 15" wheel. I can't recall what my backspacing is though either.

If I measured correctly my backspacing is 5.95"...I don't have any fender issues yet but I'm at stock ride height.
