I have been searching the forum for answers in regards to what order to install the door components(WINDOW/VENT VINDOW/REGULATOR/ETC) and have found varying answers. I have gutted the doors for paint and going to reinstall the aforementioned items. Want to do this without scratching paint and am wandering what order did someone actually perform this and if it worked (with the least hassle) As mentioned earlier after searching forum, got many conflicting views. Jm Osborne book and Ciltons has vague descriptions, wanted to hear from someone who actually did it. Thanks in advance. Brian

I did it many times. Put masking tape on the upper edges just in case something slips. First put on the outer door parts, handle, lock dont tighten as you might have to remove the bolts to get the rods on latter. then install the inner door latch but dont tighten then drop the window with the bottom track into the door and let in set on the bottom the put in the wing window but dont put the bolts in yet, next install the felts the slid in the side track but dont bolt down. then slid the window up all the way and use a 2by4 to holt it up, then install the regulator and inner door handle assembly, slid the wing wingow track into place and install the bolts loose then install the other track next to the door latch and install the inner rods, this can be a hassel but you will get it. install the door latch and lock rods and all bolts loose then start your adjustments to get every thing aligned.
There are many ways to do this but this works for me.
Use a little silicone greese in the rollers and tracks.
