1970 Grande won't start; looking for thoughts

I've realized I do....But i'm trying not to be one of those stang owners who are like "STANGS 4 LYFE" "camaros R stupid" yah know?
We have 5 acres, so I'm good till I move out They even gave me a car port to work in.

It's possible, it was the battery:O the battery I used I have to jump because it doesn't hold voltage well. I need to buy a new one then. The popping I mean is like the starter turning, the carb is doing fine so far, I had a friend helped me out, and once I put it on not backwards it all made sense. Well except for a bracket on the driver side, I'm still not sure how that all links up.

It still doesn't start, that was just trying to crank it it made those noises.

you see its already to late your hooked, you have the land to store them and a carport to work in,one of us, one of us, one of us,you just have to admit it.

the bracket bolts on the back two studs with the square hole on the drivers side the throtle cable pushes through the square hole and snaps in place then the end of the cable has a clip with a hole that pops over a small ball on the carborator lincage ,it just pushes on. unless the ball has been unbolted from the carborator lincage. if it has you can get one from any parts store, i will see if i can come up with a pic.

IT CRANKED. The amount of excitement, so much joy.
Well it didn't start, but I had my moms come look to make sure the belt was turning and I could feel a few cylinders fire off.
The issue was the battery, as said, thanks for that (95 dollars though!).
Anyways. I was thinking the reason why it wouldn't fully fire off is because of the fuel. Any one second that(looking for reaffirmation)?
And if that is the path I should look into should I just put a few gallons in the tank or should I open the carb up and put a bit into the float bowl as well as the tank?

Also, the gas pedal I noticed (when I tried to press it) was laying on the floor. Is this because the throttle bracket isn't connected or?

wonderfull! yep ,add some gass to the tank. check all the fuel lines to make sure they are tight first. you can prime the carborator. put the air cleaner on it before you try to start it ,just incase of back fire. if it will not start and back fires alot,check the spark plug wires. the may not be on the correct plug.

the gass pedal needs to be hooked up ,bracket and cable.

It's been a while, again. I'm really really bad about making time for this hobby. But anyways, I took a look at it again and that gas pedal issue is still there of course.

I googled and googled for hours and the only pictures of that 'bracket' i was referring to that is connected to the (what I believe is) throttle linkage (when I pull it tight it lifts the pedal) are these two.

Both on the same website. They look similar in that they both are L shaped like mine and deal with the throttle, or gas pedal. Still have no idea how it bolts up to the intake or carb or where ever it goes. Anyone else running an auto lite Carb? 2100 or 2150?

The throttle cable does mount in the same spot as the Holley Carb you posted horse sence, but it doesn't show any kind of bracket like mine. It's separate from the automatic kick down.

"This attaches to the rear two carburetor to intake manifold studs and properly holds the throttle cable in position" in the add this is the only info it really has on how it mounts. I just cant seem to figure it out.

I'm still missing y return springs but I plan to run dual springs like how you have it, still need the wing it for the air filter, and I also noticed the kick down slipped off because I'm missing a clip. So 15 or so dollars and I should be good. 25 if I decided to get a billet mount for the springs( like yours).
I'm not sure if my throttle assembly is fully working yet but I can't find out till I get these things all together

Question though, it might be dumb, but when I press the pedal or move the throttle assembly backwards (to simulate pressing the pedal) is the carb suppose to open and expose the runners? When I do it doesn't move at all

You should be able to see the throttle blades open, down in the carb. If the choke plate is closed, you might not be able to see them moving. Go ahead and grab a flashlight if you need too......

I opened the choke plate, the throttle blades moved. I also just found the return spring and put it on. I sprayed some carb cleaner into the intake and got it to kick on for about a second before it died. Prior to the carb cleaner it wouldn't do a thing. So I'm going to get a gallon of gas and prime it some.

Still need to get that clip for the kick down though.

The best it gave is when I opened the choke half way with the carb cleaner. I could smell some of the burnt fumes afterwards.

if it will fire ,fill the carburetor bowl and it should run . watch for back fire just in case. never pour gass down the throat while cranking it over.

I know the excitement of that first time engine fire, it is something to be savored! I left my 69 351W about 3/4 complete, and I am anxious to get back on it! I still need to measure and order push rods, and a new drive shaft, but I think that is it, other than the labor..

I started it up and it ran for a few on its own and died because the bowl was emptied. Refilled it and now it's squirting tiny bits of fuel up out of it. :/

Soo I'm not a carb person, this means?

It's also not replenishing the reservoir, this could be because I only put a gallon in the tank and the lines are dry. But anyone have a different thought?
I'll check the fuel filter for rust build up.

It soaks the choke plate and the piece where the wing it goes that secures the intake, so I'd defiantly say its internal. Maybe also because I pump the gas pedal when turning over.
