I bought an oil pan conversion kit for a 351 that I'm putting into a 90-93 5.0 - I haven't bought the car yet - re-building the motor 1st....I finally pulled the pan out and there is a screw in type hole that's on the side - now I assume its for either a oil temp/press gauge or a dry slump can for the oil - or?....any help/direction would be great!...thanks!

That's for a screw in dipstick tube. The hole itself (the cutout portion in the pan)was originally for a low oil sender.

Thanks - it's werid the dipstick they sent w/it doesn't screw in?.....the timing cover I have with the motor slides the dipstick in - this must be for switching it over to 5.0 efi.....(I'm going carb) ...I wonder if I can still use it for a oil press/gauge/dry slump anyway - or is it too low by the pan?

I said it screws in , but that was an assumption. If it lacks threads and the tube fits, Wear it.
