This is my 1976 Cobra ii. I got it when I was 10. I am now 16. My dad bought it for me for christmas from someone he worked with. It is a real cobra ii. It was backhalfed. I havn’t done to much work on it. Me and my dad have always worked on old cars together and I have never been into electronics or video games. I only do the car. I had to pay off 1000 for the car. I finished paying it off when I was 14. I bought a couple remote control airplane collections and with the help of my dad was able to make a lot of money selling the stuff which is what paid for this and a couple other project cars I was able to buy.

Hows that , a kid with my favorite Cobra. You should be blessed to have such a nice car. Be good to it. I wonder if you saw the Charlies Angels post.

I didn’t see any other post. It is a nice car. I try to buy all NOS stuff for it. I am putting factory ac in it. Also a set of tucked bumpers.

I'm in awe of those tailpipes. Is the left side just running under the gas tank, or are you changing it to a fuel cell?

They are pretty cool. They run under the fuel tank.

I don't see where you're referring to it being back-halved though....? Back half means pro-street, or it does to me anyway. Otherwise it's a nice looking start! Congratulations and good luck!! Oh, and keep us posted - we love seeing these kinds of things!!

No I didn’t take it to a show. I don’t have a license yet. And by back half I meant someone cut the car in half and welded a 77 or 78 back from the windshield posts and the middle of the floor.

That's "clipped" not "back-halved".

I am not sure if it is stock or not but the car has a rear end fluid cooler. Is that stock? It also has a early 60’s oem ford cobra dual intake with two Carter 4 barrel carburetors.

No, neither of those are stock, especially the intake and carbs. The history of this car is somewhat intriguing....

Please show us the engine. (unless I missed it) I'd like to see how that fits under the hood. So cool to see a 76 being resurrected.

I ran a Cobra Dual Quad intake with two 600 1850 Holley's on my 1978 Cobra II with the oval Cobra air Cleaner, the only thing I had to do was Move the Carb mounts on the Fiberglass base so the Air cleaner would clear the fire wall! The cobra two don't have much hood clearance so you need a low profile air cleaner!

My hood has a hole cut in it with a funtional hood scoop so I have a little more room. I will be selling the 1960’s OEM Ford Cobra dual quad intake for a small block with or without the carbs if anyone is interested. I will get pics of engine saturday.

Wow you just don't see that much anymore...sectioning a car to keep it alive...not so common, especially on a II.. Looks as if it was done correctly since the T-tops seem to fit nice.

Yeah it was done correctly. I think they used the factory windshield post welds on the cowl to do it so it got the entire roof and posts.

I need to rebuild my door hindges. I know how to do it but I was wondering if anyone else had done it before and if anyone got a kit or not. Let me know if somebody sells a kit or not and were.
Thanks!
