Well,....This is what came from Summit.
icb-551852_ml.webp

No instructions. (Exactly the same as if I had made it out of brass).
I was hoping that I could remove the barb fittings so they could be replaced w/ the push-loc fittings I'm currently using,...but no. Those barbs have the tiniest threaded O-ringed male ends I've ever seen.
So I'm relegated to using it as is, and converting the fittings on the turbo, and the "T" over to barbs and use rubber hose to connect.
I'm guessing the outlet from the turbo goes into the bottom fitting, (tapered end) and the side fitting goes to the T that feeds the lower ports on the wastegates. The screw applies pressure to the ball that is directly above the lower barb, and the turbo's boost signal gets "held closed", requiring more pressure to open it before it'll open the WG....tricking the wastegate into thinking there's only 7 p.s.I. when there's actually more.

Simple enough I guess....I just gotta figure a way to mount the dumb little thing.

My rebuilt oil pump is sitting on the floor now. Just arrived today.

When I started the car earlier this year the pump leaked. I called the company and they had me put a bandaid fix, and it still leaked. Then I called the company again and discussed getting the leak fixed.

Dude tells me to send the pump in for a look....

So I did.

On Monday, I called them to ask what the status was, and the owner told me that the pump was done, but for whatever reason, didn't go out on friday. He said he'd get it out on Tuesday, and ship it overnight.

Fair nuff.

On Tuesday,..I get a call from their accounts receivable department wanting to know how I'd like to settle up my balance.

"What balance?" I asked.."Well, for the rebuild on your pump......That balance" She replies. "It comes to 124.00." she adds.

Oh no she ditent.....I know that she wasn't thinking that I was gonna pay for a pump that I have'nt had installed since the beginning of the year...This should be a warranty repair.

"Uhhh,....you've had this pump since 2014" she says....."No freakin way",...I reply,... I haven't had this pump even installed since I got the engine together, and at best case,...maybe sometime early in 2016" I argue back. Adding "besides,..the pump has been leaking since day one,...and even at that, it's only got about 4 hours of run time on it."

I speak with the owner,..he says that he thinks I'm right, and he'll call me. He also tells me that the pump has shipped.

I never hear back from him. But now I'm intrigued,....Just how long have I had the pump? I'm wondering....

So,...knowing that I have the installation documented in this thread,..I look back,...starting from this day.

I go back 50 pages.
Then 100...
Then 150.....
Then 200,.....
and finally,.....at page 44 of this build thread,..This is what I find.....
1978 Fairmont Futura Build

That freakin pump has been sitting on front of the engine for almost 3 years......It hasn't been running obviously,...but it's been there nonetheless. Hopefully,....it's fixed.

Update Mike!

Nothing to update. I need time, and a lack of alternative diversion.

In other words,...I need to get the house finished, so when we decide to list it it's ready.

This will be the house,...they're currently digging footings. They started March 15.
Builder says 120 days. So,..............July 15. It all works out really,..the building you see in back is an old folks home,..so on my final move, I'll just be able to hobble down the block.

I have everything required to put the monster back together with the new "Black Mamba" version of the engine detail. I figure 3 hours will get it running.
Again, as with everything I've done to the monster, every mod gets a name, and the monster's engine just got his. It's not a stretch really, there's always been a Greek "Gorgon" living under the hood already. My girl Medusa has a head full of snakes.

Tomorrow I'm off, and I could in theory go down there at 6-7 in the morning and do that before I get guilted into the house work.
And That'll happen solely dependent on whether or not I went out drinking the last night.......( like I did last night).
I don't know why I drink at all really. Even when not over indulging, I pay for that the next morning w/ a headache. The pain-o-meter tells me how much I drank, and or offset each " drink" w/ a glass of water. Last night I was careful to do that,...this morning, I still have a dull roar at the front of my brain.

Coffee, and time fix that. Last night was the excuse to pretend I'm Irish. (Laughable, when considering that my last name is Matkosky)
Tonight I got no reason to drink, and no reason to go anywhere to do that, so let's just say that I'll commit to this:

24 hours from now, I'll be in the garage bolting the Mamba back together.:nice:

Now I gotta find me a cobra emblem to stick somewhere like the factory would've done on the engine. Or have some letters made.....

I too, am dealing with that frontal roar. I had maybe 6 beers from 5:30PM to the time I got home at 11:00PM, and still I sit here feeling like I didnt sleep, and have a headache.

Anywho, do you have any pictures of the parts after their new coating? Did you keep everything black?

Oh look! Me doing more talking to the walls..Yippee!!

I did do what I said I was gonna do BTW. I did go down yesterday at 7 AM, and attempt to put the car back together...It just went way slower than I estimated it would.

And that was completely my fault.

When I put the intake in place, I used straight RTV as a gasket. Since the mounting holes are vertically opposed on top and bottom of the port, I only installed the top bolts. The weight of the intake insured that the bottom mounting holes would be held tight against the head mounting flange. I figured I'd install the lower 6 bolts when I got around to finishing the thing up.

That wasn't the issue though.

What happens when you use RTV on a gasket surface?

Did we guess that it googes everywhere, and into everything? How bout those lower 6 intake flange bolt holes...Did it googe in there ya spose?

And then dry?

Was putting those bolts in a pain in the ass before as it was?

Now add dried,..springy, rubbery RTV in the hole, and try to thread a bolt in there with one finger....

Do you cuss yourself, and throw things?

Does it take 90 minutes to screw in, and tighten 6 bolts?

It did yesterday.

Then,....How bout while you're making all of your Walmart Mom low voice cussing noises (Cause you don't want to wake the sleeping beauty in the bedroom directly above you) and you're struggling to thread those bolts from under the car, you kick something that bumps into something else, and that causes the radiator to topple over, that has a bazillion small parts on it, including the 6 injector clips. But now that the radiator has toppled over, all of those small parts are now scattered all over the place,..and despite a feudal search,...you only can find 5.

Perfect.

Then,....Just as you start making forward progress, committing to yourself that you're just gonna have to go to AutoZone and buy a stupid clip,.....You hear the noise......

You pretend that you didn't hear it and you continue.....

There it is again though,.....and you know that you'll only be able to get away w/ claiming that you didn't hear it one more time...You continue.

Then the noise sends Thing 2 downstairs as a surefire solution against your selective deafness, and you can't avoid it anylonger...

"Mom wants you"

:dammit:

You drop your wrench stand up, and trudge upstairs,....telling yourself that you have tomorrow off.....Maybe you'll be able to finish it then....

Hahaha...the Monster get you every time...lol. This is entertainment at its finest. I'll be lingering around waiting to see what he torments you with next...

I have to read into that....

Are you saying that he should be careful that I, or somebody else could BE the flame thrower?

As in this type of flame thrower ?:flame:,

I would never flame Droop,....he's one of the original gang of 12. I've brought him over from FEP.
He's Bonafide.
I meant that you might actualy install one.
