Each one of these cars has a limited edition number between 0001 and 5261. That is the number I am looking for.What do you mean by 'sequence number'?

The more I dive into this, the more it looks like this number refers to the order in which the vehicle was sold (or arrived at it's respective dealership)--not the order that it was manufactured.Is it next to impossible to find out what the sequence number is on a 20th anniversary Mustang?

That would explain why there is no rhyme or reason for the way these numbers have been distributed. The highest I have seen so far is #4979.If you dont already know the number, you will not even know it, if it was ever assigned one to begin with. Ford didn't assign the number so asking them, or Marti Auto Works, will get you nowhere. As a new owner of one of the cars, you were given a card to fill out and mail to a plaque engraving company. That company mailed you a numbered plaque. That company went out of business in the late 80s.
I think the "Ford Invoice" option has the dealer the car was originally shipped to, which is probably the selling dealer... though that may not necessarily be the case 100% of the time.I believe the Marti Report has the selling dealer in one of their packages

You indicated the company went out of business in the 80's, do you remember the name of the company?
Also, are you aware of a way to determine what dealership a car was sold at? I understand this may be coded on the door sticker?

I think those were not 'rent-a-racecar' Hertz models, those (IIRC) early model GT350 cars.
