1989 LX Tapping Noise Question

I have an 89 LX 5.0, it has a Trick Flow stage two cam and roller rockers (not sure the ratio but there blue) and GT40 upper and lower. The question I have is, starting about a week ago I had a tapping at start up that would go a way after a few minuets. I had planned to take the upper off and valve covers and ck the rocker arms this weekend but this morning it started tapping got louder and wouldn’t stop tapping so I turned it off and pushed it back in the shop. I pulled the upper off and the valve cover on the dr side, I am going to ck and see if the push rods are bent and re torque the rocker arms but I was wondering what you guys think the problem might be. The only thing else I could think of is a lifter going down (I hope not) but what else would cause a tapping on the upper end? The lifters were put in with the cam about 1.5 years ago there Motorsport lifters.

Besides the things that you have mentioned to check, I would check the header bolts. Sometimes a header leak can sound just like a tapping noise.

A good way to check tapping noises that I have had success with is to use a wooden broom stick handle or automotive stethoscope and put it up to where you think the noises are coming from and listen. I have used this to help pinpoint where exactly the noise is ciming from.
