Of course he's not as good as Brady, otherwise he wouldn't be a backup now would he. Sure the timing is not as good, but he sure did pretty good today didn't he? He sure wasn't hindering your team much, if at all.

You better face it, if your team continues to play like they did today you are in for a LONG season. You're also facing a major problem with the possibility of losing Brady for a long period of time if not the entire season.

Oh, and if you really want to get into a dick waving contest about this, I'll call your bluff. You're a good guy Redline, and a true football fan but I've read alot of your posts and your football ANALYSIS is sorely lacking at times. If you want to get into truely breaking down games, I'll show you what it means to KNOW football.

Are you kidding me?.. Seriously?.. Get real, man. New England destroyed almost everyone in the league last year, but BARELY beat a terrible Ravens team and a terrible Eagles team (both using backup QB's).

I guess having a game where you don't annihilate somebody is bad and your season is ruined..

Who might your team be?.. Since you seem to have such a big window to be able to speak about things like this.

So now brady is lost for the season according to you or a very long time? Id like to know how you have come to this conclusion considering he will not have a MRI until monday and for the fact he walked off the field on his own. Knowing the Patriots and Belichick they probably benched him for the game and iced the knee to prevent any swelling. I'll be shocked if its anything that last more then even the next game.
Easy. The hit and the way his knee bent is consistent with what usually turns out to be a PCL or ACL injury. It could be a simple sprain or it could be torn. If it's just a sprain or something less he could miss anywhere up to 4-6 games but if it's torn his season is pretty much over. And I'm sure you understand that players can, and routinely do, walk off under their own power with torn ACLs and PCLs. Hell, in 2000 Olandis Gary finished the whole second half of a game with what turned out to be a torn ACL.

Ive been watching Brady since he took over for the team. There are very few QB's in the NFL who can lead an offense like him. Hes a huge part in how everything works and clicks on the offense. Sure you can throw in Cassel and he can move the chains and score some points but belive me Its not the same.
Is your reading comprehension that bad?

Ive also been watching the Patriots since I was in High School and Ive seen them over come tons of obstacles so don't think that just b/c they have a close game against Kansas City that it is some indication that the team is some how in trouble. On their second Superbowl run they also lost to the 1-15 Dolphins in the regular season and went on to beat the Eagles in the Superbowl so what does a close game w/ a suck team really tell you? Nothing at all.
Of course they can turn it around, hence why I said "IF your team continues to play that way." I don't remember that game against the Dolphins or the circumstances around it, but that has no bearing on the Pats play today, which was medicore at best.

So by all means school me in the art of football and tell me the Patriots fate since you seem to be such a expert on it.
Alright. Name your terms.

 Turn the season around. Its week #1 and they came away with a win.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? I stated what it was I said tell me the Patriots fate since your such an expert.

That was last year. And again, different circumstances around different games. Today was simple, your team came out flat against one of the worst teams in the NFL and barely won.

I guess having a game where you don't annihilate somebody is bad and your season is ruined..
Thats not what I said at all and you know it. Quit trying to twist my words.

Who might your team be?.. Since you seem to have such a big window to be able to speak about things like this.
We're talking about the Pats, so what difference does it make who my team is...unless you want to deflect the conversation away from their poor play and onto the merits of my team.

I didn't say "turn the season around" I said "turn it around" ie their crappy play. Totally different things there.

Do you have a reading comprehension problem? I stated what it was I said tell me the Patriots fate since your such an expert.
If they continue playing the way they did today they have very little chance of making the playoffs.

I want to know who your team is so you can give me your expert opinion on them and how they will do this year. Also since you opened your mouth you have yet to answer my now twice asked question of the Patriots fate this season since you act as though you have it all figured out.

You got off on the wrong foot on this thread and it has nothing to do w/ your analysis of the Patriots but here is why. Anyone that claims to know anything about football knows that every team in the NFL will have Up games and Down games. No matter how good a team is some games they just come out and don't play as good as they should. Does that mean they will play like that all year? Of course not. But this is what gets me. Everyone here in the NFL thread will agree that based on their teams first game of the season there is room for improvement. This is the first game that many starters across the league have played in. Everyone in here knows that you cannot base your teams performance for the season just on one game and even less on the first game of the season but for some reason you think the Patriots are backed into a corner b/c they had a close game w/ Kansas City. The Patriots have a lot of close game w/ lots of different teams, its nothing new when your a regular Patriots follower. I Enjoy blow outs as much as the next guy but what really matters to me is the W in the colum. Thy will make the necessary adjustments for next week, today for me was by no means an OH NO game b/c it was close w/ Kansas City. So keep thinking your enlightment some how is impressive to anyone on here but in reality if your basing a teams season on one game and that one game being week 1 it only shows how little you really understand about the NFL

PS: Its ok Tampa Bay will get better soon as well. Or perhaps Jacksonville

It does make a difference. If you say the Giants, then I will dismiss everything you say. They looked mediocre and only managed 1 TD against a terrible washington team, and even got shutout in the second half with their starting "SB MVP QB" who supposedly "turned the corner"

Not to mention, this was the first game in a new system for a lot of guys. Mayo, Wheatley, Wilhite, Deltha O'neal (who broke up the 4th down pass to stop KC in the end), etc.

It's only 1 game and their defense will only get better this year. Just wait til mid-season when they're back in normal form. :nice:

I want to know who your team is so you can give me your expert opinion on them and how they will do this year.
Irrelevant. My team hasn't played their game yet and even if they had it has no bearing on the Patroits play. You can keep trying to deflect but it only makes you look more foolish.

Also since you opened your mouth you have yet to answer my now twice asked question of the Patriots fate this season since you act as though you have it all figured out.
I've already answered your question...twice...but here is a third. If the Patroits continue to play like they did today they will have be lucky to make the playoffs.

Is that clear enough for you?

You got off on the wrong foot on this thread and it has nothing to do w/ your analysis of the Patriots but here is why. Anyone that claims to know anything about football knows that every team in the NFL will have Up games and Down games.
Where did I disagree with this?

No matter how good a team is some games they just come out and don't play as good as they should. Does that mean they will play like that all year? Of course not.
Again, I haven't disputed this.

And once again, not disputing it. But given the sample that we have for analysis, the Patriots do NOT look good.

The Patriots have a lot of close game w/ lots of different teams, its nothing new when your a regular Patriots follower. Again, you're just making yourself look ignorant. At no point have I "based a teams season on one game" but rather provided my analysis and opinions on that one game. Cry foul all you want because you are a Pats homer and can't look at it objectively, but the point remains your team gave a poor showing today.

Then that would be pretty damn ignorant wouldn't it? The only way you could possibly dismiss what I say is if I gave incorrect or contradictory analysis on my team. My team has no basis on how correct my analysis is unless you can prove I'm breaking down their play differently then I am someone else.

It's only 1 game and their defense will only get better this year.

Maybe.

Eric your young and have a lot to learn about life and even more about football. I can see taking a teams play over a 6-7 wk period but basing anything off one game even more so in week 1 is just pointless. There are many good and bad things I can say about a lot of teams that have played so far today and as far as tomorrow but it does not mean those things wont change by the next week. The Patriots have not become the most winning team in Football for the past several years w/ out knowing how to make adjustments when they need to. There were "key" mistakes made today that will be corrected, there were players who have not had much playing time who will learn as it goes on. You can say what you want but your the only one making yourself look foolish by putting so much emphasis on a week 1 game.

On a side note today in the NFL Brady was not the only player to go down w/ a Left Knee Injury, So did Vince Young and Nate Burleson

Well, you could possibly be a homer and give a contradictory analysis on your own team if you would say who they were instead of skirting the issue and dodging questions. For all I know you could be a Giants fan and think you just had a solid win and a great game from your team, which would be absolutely ignorant to think.

Irrelevant. My team hasn't played their game yet .

So its either Indy, Chicago, Denver, Oakland, Minnesota or Green bay.

Whats the problem with saying what your team is you go for in an NFL Thread? What is there to hide? Do you think people will :rlaugh: at you b/c you like a suck team? I don't bash people based on who they like for a team, I just dislike some teams more then others.

But your lack of disclosure of your team in a thread that is about football only limits your reason for being here for the reason of starting problems b/c it seems to be your main goal at the moment.

Eric your young and have a lot to learn about life and even more about football.
I played football from the time I was 8 years old until my senior year of high school and have helped coach teams from the peewee level up to the high school level. I've also spent time with a couple former NFL players and the son of an NFL defensive coordinator.

I'm plenty confident in my knowledge of the game of football, thank you very much.

I can see taking a teams play over a 6-7 wk period but basing anything off one game even more so in week 1 is just pointless.
The only thing I'm basing off this 1 game is my analysis of this 1 game. Not sure why you are having so much trouble understanding this.

There are many good and bad things I can say about a lot of teams that have played so far today and as far as tomorrow but it does not mean those things wont change by the next week.
How many times do I have to say that I don't dispute this before you stop parroting on about it?

The Patriots have not become the most winning team in Football for the past several years w/ out knowing how to make adjustments when they need to. You really need to take some reading comprehension lessons. Seriously I'm not trying to be a dick about it but you're taking my breakdown of the Pats game today and trying to make it into me writing them off for the entire season.

Feel free to do some looking. The team I like is no secret and we've discussed it before.

Regardless, my team has not played yet so there is no analysis for me to give yet. Be advised though, if you want to make this about my analysis you better come with actual prove of me being incorrect/homer and not just "z0mg you like them teh pats are soooo much better!!!111!"

I
The only thing I'm basing off this 1 game is my analysis of this 1 game. Not sure why you are having so much trouble understanding this.

.

The problem I have is your taking this 1 game and linking it to not even making the playoffs. Your contradicting yourself. This post you said this is the analysis of 1 game, and in previous posts your saying they are going to have a hard time making the playoffs based on this one game? So which one is it, are you making a 1 game analysis or a seson long prediction?

My team is no secret, I've discussed it with you and Jason in the past before, but it's not relevant to this discussion.

But your lack of disclosure of your team in a thread that is about football only limits your reason for being here for the reason of starting problems b/c it seems to be your main goal at the moment.

My posts here so far have been about the Patroits play, not about my team. If the fact that you consider my less than flattering analysis as "starting problems" then I suggest you get a reality check.

I picked them to win this week they better not let me down. Still a close game w/ much time left.

Damnit, I spoke too soon. :(

Broncos.. we'll see.
