1990Coupe *OFFICIAL* 2008 NFL thread

I predict that the Bengals will win the SB this year. Based on their inability to score on offense this past week and their inability to properly protect their own quarterback as well as prevent turnovers....they are a shoe-in. Especially getting beat by a game that should have been a no-brainer win for us.

So now brady is lost for the season according to you or a very long time? Id like to know how you have come to this conclusion considering he will not have a MRI until monday and for the fact he walked off the field on his own. Knowing the Patriots and Belichick they probably benched him for the game and iced the knee to prevent any swelling. I'll be shocked if its anything that last more then even the next game.

Ive been watching Brady since he took over for the team. There are very few QB's in the NFL who can lead an offense like him. Hes a huge part in how everything works and clicks on the offense.

so now we're not the only ones missing a star player...here's to a great year

Both you and Redline have ZERO sence of humor! You both say chit and then when some one takes a tiny little poke back...waaaaaah. The last post I made where I quoted you was supposed to make you LAUGH, not cry. It's pretty much what your post said. Just look at it.

Nothing wrong with early predictions! They are based on week 1 so no biggie.. I'm sure there will be ups and downs

Exactly! I'll be changing my predictions every week until we get a solid idea of how this season will shape up.

Learn how to make a joke.

I was going to comment on a few of the other posts made in this thread but Id decided to refrain from it. This thread is meant to be fun that's turned into to much of a pissing contest. Last years pussification has been taken over by arrogance and ignorant posts.

Anyway why I'm really here is for what do the Patriots do now. Brady is on IR, got for the year torn ACL and needs surgery. The need to make the necessary adjustments and deal with what they have now. Their as stated "light Schedule" just got a bit harder. Jets and Bills are not pushovers anymore, granted they still had to win the games no matter who they play. They did lose to the dolphins on the way to their second Superbowl when they were they worst team in the league.

hard to say where they will end up. Id like to see them making a run for the AFC East championship and into the playoffs. Some people are saying 8-8 or less. No one really knows how Cassel will do and how the offense will adjust. I'm not throwing the team under the bus, I'm still going to pull as hard for them every week. Just have to hope for the best for this year and that Brady can make a full recovery from an injury that leaves a lot of players less then what they were before. Its not the short term of this season I'm really worried about, its how will he be next year?

As I posted earlier, it totally sucks to have a key player out for the year. Sometimes, a whole season is lost. If you sat down and thought about it, what 1 player lost for a year would make the biggest difference to a team, I'd think Brady and P.Manning's names would be at the top of the list. The loss of Osi Umenyora was huge also.

As a fan, you just have to keep your chin up and enjoy the season the best you can. Some games may actually become more interesting due to the whole dynamics of the offense or defense changing.

Team depth is critical.

I too hope Brady makes a 100% comeback. Years ago, the Giants lost (for good) one of the best young players in the league. Again, facing the Jets in pre-season, CB Jason Sehorn suffered a torn knee and was out for the year. He was an incredable player that was getting better and better. When he came back in 1998, he was never able to make those cuts ever again.

Guess I'm gonna have to requote this since you went back and edited it.

Why would you assume that I want to hammer on your team?

Here is the facts for the fact challenged..

1. the patriots won today with a qb who has not started a regular season game since HS..

True, but lets keep in mind he backed up TWO Heisman trophy winners at USC.

Another idiotic assumption with no facts to back it up.

If you had even the slightest bit of reading comprehension skills you'd see I never disagreed with that.

Yeah, and I don't know football. Let me guess, you never played the game right? Well in that case let me remind you that a fumble by the WR would happen AFTER the catch was made and would not effect Brady's numbers at all outside of shortening the drive.

You do realize both of bradys drives ended in fumbles right? so how was that his fault.. he left the game with 7 minutes left in the first quarter. The guy did not play a snap since feb sure he was a little rusty but there is nothing he could do about fumbles.

who cares if it did not effect his stats I am aware that the yards and completion count thats only stats it does not matter.. what matters is the pats lost scoring chances since it ended the drives, do you think belichick or any of the patriots players gave a crap if they counted on the stat sheet..

I just don't understand what you expected brady to do in two series where his WR's fumbled.. He did not have a chance to do anything in that game before he went out.

I also don't understand if you saw the game how you could think that cassel was not a drop off.. he missed a few open guys threw two near INT's that should have been picked. He was ok in general and had one excellent pass when the cheifs sold out on the run when the pats were on their own 1 yard line. thats not the same as having tom brady in the game. anybody who watched that game could see the drop off

BTW I played probably the same amount of football as you did I played HS football not that it matters since playing HS football does not make you or me a expert. Even if you played for some small college that does not matter either, unless you can make a NFL roster I don't care how high of a level you played.

my problem with your posts are

1. you posted that they did not play well against a bad team...

Well DUHHHHHH they had a HUGE drop off at QB.. they went from a all time great to a guy that could not even start a college game.

2. you compared loosing croyle to brady...

when I pointed out the pats lost brady you responded with telling us that the cheifs lost croyle in the third quarter.. HOW is that even close to loosing brady in the first 10 minutes of the game. the cheifs back up huard has more NFL experience and is probably a better qb at this point than croyle. Not even close to the impact of loosing brady.

3. You said brady was not playing well when he went out..

HE PLAYED TWO SERIES.. Both of them ended in fumbles what the hell was he supposed to do about it.. ok he was a little rusty the first time out are you surprised about that? do you honestly think that would have continued all game. It's not like he threw 2 picks to start the game.

Look just PM me if you want to argue. your only points at this stage of this argument is my grammar and how much football I played, neither of them matter...

That by far is my biggest concern. Nothing can be done about it this year we know his status and that he cannot come back. Where the big question mark lies is how much of a recovery will he make? Will he be the League status Tom Brady we have all come to know when he does come back? Or will he become another NFL player who's career was cut short due to injury by never fully being able to recover.

redline and jason..

take it easy on mr. vax I know we are all pissed today and upset but I think he is being honest and realistic from just scanning his posts..

I think he will be ok once he has recovered since it's not his plant leg and he is not a mobile QB. sure he does do some dodging in the pocket but I see no reason why he would not be able to do that post recovery.
