Progress Thread 1991 Foxbody K Member Swap

Most people use the offset bushings to get the rack lower for oil pan clearance with an aftermarket k, then use the bumpsteer kit to correct that geometry. Some k's just move the rack down on its own as well, so watch for that

Here’s another update so I had an issue with the spindle so I ended up taking off the dust cover and sending it sense :leghump: it now the rotor rolls on it fine and dandy soo the next issue I had was the damn brake pads when I bought the car the guy gave me a box of brake pads and come to find out they didn’t fit odd because it was for my exact year then after buying a 2nd set of pads I post them on a page and someone said those are SVO brake pads so I got back to the store and bam they were the SVO pads so that clearly means my car has SVO Calipers on it which is kinda of neat so I got my rotors and my new pads on so now. I just have to go over everything tighten it down and take her for a spin and see the huge change

I just did a upr kit in my own car after all these years. My buddy Nicks @84Ttop car that I crew on at the track has the upr stuff in it too and it has taken plenty of abuse. 4.90s to the 1/8th . 8.0 out the back on an easy pass, Numerous landings from :poo: like this . Hopefully that will ease your mind some .

Yeah that’s honestly pretty cool seeing drag cars with the same products

Soo here’s another update I got the car on the ground and as soon as I started pulling it out of my garage the steering wheel was binding really bad. So after a long diagnosis the pump wasn’t feeding the rack fluid so in theory the pump took a crap and the rack was leaking to so I just trashed it and picked up a brand new rack and pump for a total of 150 bucks at my local auto parts store. As well as new feed and return lines. And as of this moment I have the new rack in and I installed the UPR extreme Bumper steer kit and rolled it out and today I will be finishing up the rest on top of that UPRs offset rack bushings have been the biggest pain in my ass ... so I tried to switch to regular bushings but they dont even fit since the k members position is higher then the factory one.. so I have the bushings at the 12o’clock position since it won’t fit on the 6 position.. so hopefully this whole new steering system works .. Here are some pictures enjoy . PS - Taking off the power steering pump is a pain in the ass ...

Even painted the housing for the pump with vinyl and carpet paint since it’s all I had close to me, I think it turned out pretty good

Add just a little of the lucus power steering fluid and it will keep that motor quiet too. I just redid the steering in my black mustang a couple months ago.

Glad you guys figured that out. I had a nightmare of a time getting one to be quiet in a Ranger I have and ended up buying a used Ford one off ebay because nothing I did including trying different fluid made that reman quieter.

Hey Guys,

I have a 90' fox with a complete Team Z K member and strange coil overs with SVE caster camber plates. I went through and greased everything and torqued everything down and I am still getting clunks on bumps. Its driving me nuts! I checked everything over at least 2 times now and still don't understand what is clunking?
