I put 3.55s in my ‘86 to replace the stock 2.73s. It’s OK, but I’d like to try the 3.27s now.OUCH! That sucks.
How do you think the 5 speed would be on long highway trips with 3.55 gears?

I used my ‘86 as a daily driver for 13 years and 96,000 miles with the 2.73 gears. It was a good cruiser, had enough power and got 25 mpg on the highway. I was satisfied, but always wanted to add a little more power. So aluminum heads, E303 cam, roller rockers, Edelbrock intake, bigger injectors, headers, bigger throttle body and MAF sensor were added. Runs good, but now it feels more like a drag car, always egging me to put my foot in it!Why do you say that? A little too high strung on the highway?
They all do, even the mostly stock ones like mine. The sound of that roller cam 302 in the upper rpm range is just too enticing for me when I drive it.
