Hey guys, just bought my first Mustang,93 LX with 25,000 miles on it.Its an AOD with 2.73 gears, real slow!Just put in a stallion 2800 stall speed converter, now the car smokes them off of the line.I want to put 3.73's in.Ive read all the tech on how many rpm's I will be doing,But how much time will I pick up?Ive heard one guy say he pick up a full second, with the same gear change, then I heard 3 tenths.Any help would be greatly appreciated!! Thanx

Congrats on your purchase, rare find with that milage. Gears are a great place to start off. 3.73 will be perfect for you. Id next start thinking of exhaust or some sort of CAI. Cheap mods....

I have an 87 GT with an AOD. When I went from 2.73s to 3.73s, and replaced my stock H pipe with a BBK off road I picked up 7 tenths just in the eighth.
10.00 to 9.30s. Good Luck

Josh

ahhh , just go with the 4.10 in the ol slushbox. Unless you plan on some serious boost or spray,, 4.10 in 8.8 for the AOD equipped stangs is the way to go! Get yourself a manual valve body while you are at it with a brake!

Once you start moddin you can't stop!
