I bought a 95 Gt Automatic a few weeks ago and it was running at first but had an idle surge. While trying to get the figured out I started for the first time one day and it died within 10 seconds and hasn’t fired back up since.
I hear the fuel pump prime and am getting fuel pressure
I used noid light injectors are firing
I have spark at coil and spark plugs although it does seem a little weak (small orange not blue)
I used continuity light at coil to test Tfi it seemed good
I’ve tried adjusting the timing and did a compression test
My cel lights up when I turn key on and goes away while cranking
The only code I get consistently is 327 (egr valve) which previous owner removed
I’m lost at this point what is the next thing I should be looking at?

Thread 'Cranks OK, but No Start Checklist for Fuel Injected Mustangs'

May 22, 2006
Cranks OK, but No Start Checklist for Fuel Injected 5.0 Mustangs model years 1986-1995

A word about this checklist before you start: it is arranged in a specific order to put the most likely failure items first. That will save you time, energy and money. Start at the top of the list and work your way down. Jumping around will possibly cause you to miss just what you need to see to find and fix the problem. Don’t skip any steps because the next step depends on the last step working correctly.

Revised 26-Jul-2017 to add fuse link diagram.

Thread 'Help me create the "Surging Idle Checklist"'

Updated 05 July 2022 to add rough idle when cold and smooth idle when up to normal operating temperature. See the EGR tech information, section #15 for more help.

Many of you are familiar with the "Cranks OK, but No Start Checklist for Fuel Injected Mustangs" checklist and the No Crank Checklist. They are very effective in finding and eliminating the problems by use of a systematic process that checks and eliminates possible causes. This idle problem checklist will use the same troubleshooting strategy and methodology.

By the term surging idle, I mean an idle that...
