I have a 1995 mustang GT 5.0 automatic convertible has 36,000 miles on it. Got it for a steel deal couldn’t pass it up but there’s one problem run starts like a dream but when I shift I can feel it shifting to reverse it shipping to nuetral and Shifting to drive but I only get motion in reverse. The fluid is full not burnt. I don’t know what to do!

Drain some of the fluid into a clear glass. Does it look like it has metal and black particulates suspended in it?

If so, the clutch pack for the forward gears are probably smoked.

You can take to a transmission shop and have them replace the packs and inspect the rest of the trans..

Open the thing up yourself if you feel have the hands and tools to do it. Lots of AOD video on Youtube...

If you plan to keep the car and can spend the cash, purchase an upgraded replacement and turn yours in for a core or resell the thing.

Or punt that slush box and get a manual transmission...kidding but not really. I know with the AOD-E's reverse and neutral are mechanically selected and shifting in the forward gears is computer controlled. Several good sites out there but most likely is you or someone else will be pulling the trans and replacing parts or just swapping it to a reman unit as Noobz said.
