1995 Mustang Gt ABS light

Hopefully someone else has experienced the issues I'm having with my abs light. The abs light will come on once the car is started then as i drive a few miles it will then turn off. I've pulled codes and the only code i get is code 12. Not much on the internet about the abs light coming on then turning off. If anyone has any knowledge on this it would be greatly appreciated.

Scratch my previous post, must be late, I posted about the airbag 12.

Here's a good resource (same site): http://www.veryuseful.com/mustang/tech/brakes/absDiagInfo.html

12 seems to indicate 'system ok'

It shouldn't be flashing out the 12 unless the following is done:
To read the error codes out of the ABS unit, you ground the Orange/White wire at the ABS diagnostic connector (with the ignition turned off), and then turn the ignition key to "on".

Check the orange & white wire at the ABS diagnostic connector to see if it's shorted to ground.

The module might be the problem. Other Ford of similar year, I don't know if this applies, but may be worth a shot before you replace it.

Seems like other resources indicate the code 12 means low brake fluid. Which might mean it's actually low, that the float in the brake fluid reservoir isn't working, or that the switch is bad. The link I post gives instructions on bypassing the switch to see if that eliminates your code. Sounded fairly easy to try.

I know an older thread but a car I bought in 2016 which has not been driven much over the years in fact since 2019 I just put a battery in and started and drove some the other day. Going thru and diagnosing some things before I take it down and do the 331, the speedometer wasn't working when I bought so messing with it again.

Worm gears are fine but the steppor motor is likely faulty. Anyway when I put my other cluster in from the wrecked 95 everything works fine but what's crazy is the ABS light is on. It's one on with the other cluster and I switched back and forth a couple of times to make sure. When the cluster was in the other 95 last in 2015 the ABS light was not on so not sure what's the deal. I wonder if the light in the gauge itself has an issue? It would seem like it might not work or show when you start the car if the bulb is bad........

yeah ran across that link on another thread I believe. Tried the other cluster again and still same thing, it's only with the other cluster that swapped. Someone said check the pins where the harness plugs into. I'll play around with things as that's not on the top of the list but I just like to make notes and address things as they come up; or give them attention anyway. Worse case is I just remove the light as I'm not too worried about having abs or not having it but the abs is working though.

the white faced one that the tripometer and odometer is working is the one I want to use as it's from my wrecked 95 and eventually I will do the interior of the current 95 and that is part of the cosmetic look that I want. I'll inspect the other cluster because the trip and odom is working partially but reacting slow. I think I checked the gears in it back when I was diagnosing the 94's cluster. I actually tried like 3-4 different stepper motors from different clusters lol. I'll check that one as well to see what that issue is. If the gears are fine I know it's the stepper motors. Problem is no one seems to sell those motors or you can't find them on the net......
