1998 Mach 460, Why isn't it as loud as the 99-04 "mach 460"?

The mach460 in my cobra really sounds like crap. Its pretty sad that my stock(base stereo) in my tundra sounds better.

well what i said earlier holds true, more amps = more volume

check, if possible the specs of the amps that come in the 98 460 vs the 99-04 460...if the 99-04 has more amps (which is really the only explaination) then that is why

if the above is true, I'm gonna agree with tom, and say your system is old and worn. buy some speakers and see if that helps, if not return them .

Watts/Volts = Amps

Yeah, since they are both "460's", I would have presumed they would both have "460's".

I don't really think it is how "old" it is. The difference between a 98 and a 99 could very well be one build day or one month. And between the two systems, there is a noticeable difference.

I don't know but from personal experience they're all different

For example:

My freind had a 98 Cobra, it sounded BADASS for a stock setup

Then another friend got a 01 GT, it sounds pretty good.

Another friend got a 96 Cobra and it souned like ****

I have a 96 GT from a 1 owner old man and mine sounds as good as the 98 cobra that i said sounded great..

Check your connection to the amps. Mine was loose in the trunk and my friend fixed it by simply clicking it in. I changed the speakers three times thinking they were blown and it sounded like crap. Now the whole car shakes and when i have it loud i cant see out of the rear view mirror cause it shakes!
