1st time at the strip with LX questions

Hey guys,im headed to the dragstrip for the first time with my lx Is a 1990 vert lx.It runs very very well.It has an k&n panel filter,c&l76mm MAF&inlet pipe,14 degree timing advance, flowmaster cat-back,brand new AOD w/shift-kit,and 4.10's.Should i shift it when i start out in L and shift to drive then back to L????.Anyway i was hoping someone would have a similar combo,to let me know what to expect?? I really need some help on how it should be driven, and what kinda times im gonna be looking at.Thanks

the old AOD shuffle. I have never done it myself, but 1-D-1 is what you are looking at. I am sure someone will chime in shortly with the details.

On street tires doing a John Force burnout is a waste. Bring the air pressure down. You will have to do the 1-2-1 shuffle in order to get a good time. Like the other 12.99 Goal thread going I've done it only to hit a wall at 13.2. Good luck and post back your times. I wouldn't expect too much for your first time. My first time down the track was like a 15.90. With no other vehicle changes (only my driving) a few weeks later I got that down to a 14.4 at 94MPH with my stock 94GT back in early 1994.

Yes i agree a big waste of time to do major burnouts on street tires...Also again if it has a shift kit you shouldnt have to do the 1-2-1 shuffle anymore i know i dont...i have a shift kit ...so maybe you dont:shrug:

Ok just got back from a great night at atco raceway. There was nobody there cause the hurricane is coming.Ok for the first time at the track i was pretty consistent. My times range from a 60'/2.277-14.981/93.35, to 60'/2.424-15.269/92.68.not to bad for a basically stock AOD equipped vert.

Your 60 ft's are not that good ...Drop them down and mid 14's shouldnt be a problem...For ex. I ran my fully equiped GT vert with 3.55's on street tires and ran 2.0 60's ran 14.4@96mph i had more in her trust me i was running the stock paper element, never touch tire air pressure and timing was way off, reason why the 1st run it was pinging so bad i heard it thru my helmet...:D next few runs i did it the old fashion was by ear no timing light...so i could have easily been running 14.0 maybe faster that day...Now i have a blower and meth injected and Mickey et drag radials, havent ran yet hoping for low 13's high 12's...My car is an AOD too...Some practice and you will be in the low 14's:nice:
