2.3 to 5.0 wiring

hello i am new here. i have a 1989 ford mustang that was a 2.3 fuel injected.my quistion is do i need eny of the old engine harness for a 5.0 carb setup. i have my own switch pannel running the fuel pump, fan, ingnision. i also have mechanical gagues for the watter oil and voltage. all i need that is stock is all the lights the heater box and the collum.

second- how does this setup sound 347 forged everything, edelbrock victor aluminun heads performer rpm intake 1.7 rockers cam unknown not stock and a 700 cfm edelbrock avs carb.:shrug:
 
no ac, striped track car with some street. need just the basics. ok then can i totaly remove the computer and engine harness i dont need the dash gagues and i have a tach on the a pillar. only thing i need is my speedo and thats cable fed right.
 
Yes, ditch all the wiring...except the main harness on the drivers side...thats your dash lights,tail lights,dash components,etc. The headlight harness plugs into the main harness. You'll need to extend(or get a 5.0 alternator/headlight harness) to run the alternator on the passenger side. The stock 2.3 harness will work, just will run across the engine. Also, keep the heater vacuum that runs along the firewall. Hope that helps.

Depending on if the car is an auto and converting to 5spd. The speedo cable will need to be re-routed. Theres a plug that has to come out, speedo goes there, while the old speedo hole becomes the clutch cable hole. The speedo cable from the 2.3 and 5.0 are the same, however, where the cable attaches to the frame rail theres a ring/sleeve on the cable. You'll need to slide this sleeve down about 3 inches to gain some length so to say to the instrument cluster and reaching the tailshaft.
 
thanks alot i got it now i have done all just as u say and i was in fear that i needed something from the engine harness, so it sounds all is well and im good to go
 
what do you think of my combo, i have to add that the trans is a stock 4 cld 5 speed ya i know its a bomb waiting to happen but i ran out of money and it survived a stock 302 with a cam . the way i figure it should be ok unless i power launch it. i have a freind that im tring to get c-4 from
