Alrighty. My grandfather over the past couple years has quickly gotten very bad with his alzheimers. He's probably had it for many years but no one realized it until a couple years ago but I won't get into my jacked up family here.
Bottoms line is that we're cleaning out his house and he has a mid-60s F-100 that he was hit by a tractor trailor in about 10 years ago. This truck has a 9 inch rear with 3.70 gears. I'm definitely ganking the rear out of it to replace my 8 inch unit. This truck also has an undamaged I6 in it. The truck has had many parts already canned off of it, so the only thing useful to me is the axle before I send the truck off to the car smasher. Any suggestions on what to do with the engine?
The other thing is that he has a mid-70s F-150 with a 460 in it and a 9 inch rear with 3.25 gears in it. This truck, though it needs alot of dents pulled and bondo smoothed out, could be made into quite a nice truck if restored. But...it also has that nice big block in it and the 9 inch rear. I doubt that I would want to put that monstrocity in my stang given that I actually like to drive mine (though it would be nice for the drags.) Any ideas? Can the engine for the stang? Can it and sell it for a 427W? Can the rear and sell it? Or find a buyer for the otherwise restoreable truck?
Both vehicles are mine to do with as I please, and I really can't afford, nor have an interest in restoring an F-150, but I loathe to destroy a restoreable old car.
All POV (points of view) are welcome and any suggestions (especially with relation to the possible big block swap.)
