2 questions..exhuast and a rattling noise

First I just got flowmaster series 40 mufflers installed and it seems so quiet..i thought it woulda been louder but its quiet..and inside my engine bay seems like its coming by the alternator is a pretty loud rattling noise..sounds like the bearings in the alternator...what could cause a rattling noise in that area...its annoying the hell out of me..thanks

For the noise, try this. Take a rubber hose (heater hose works pretty good) and hold one end up to your ear and point the other end to where the noise is coming from, like a stethoscope. It works pretty good, but be careful not to get it into the the rotating machinery. Could be the alt bearings or some of the bolts might have worked their way loose. Jiggle the alternator (with the engine off), remove the belt and rotate the alt by hand and see what she sounds like.

It could be bearings in your A/C going out or your smog pump.

if its the alternator im gonna be mad since its only about a year old...i'll check it out tomorrow...the thing with the noise is it comes and goes...its not constant...and it sounds crappy...just like a can with a bunch of marbles...not exactly that noise but similar ya know...
