2000 mustang dissapointing

i have a quick question.i have a 97 mustang gt with 3.73s, homemade cai, msd wires, new plugs, i cleaned the maf, and has 102k miles.well my cousin just bought a 2000 mustang gt vert.its all stock with 90k, i just cleaned the maf and installed a k&n filter and took out the silencer.the thing is my car can burn the tires pretty good while his feels a lot less torquier.my car feels stronger all the way through!!!i take out the traction control and it barely even chirps em, while i got bigger tires(275 40 17s)and i can get my car sideways.theyre both automatics what can be wrong with it??were gonna change the plugs and do an oil change and see if that helps?? also u guys with 4.10s at 75 mph at what rpm are u guys at??i keep telling him to go 4.10s but he thinks it will be too much gear.any suggestions, ideas,or tips on how to make it perform are welcome and thanks

autos 4.10 all the way,i to have 97 with 4.10 and love them i think but from 3.73,200-400 rpm difference no big deal

I hardly ever drive on the freeway, but if i remember correctly 75 MPH is like 2500 RPM in 5th (I have a 5 Speed) There have been a trillion posts on "dont fear the gear" but I will chime in any way; Dont fear the gear. Going to 4.10's was the single biggest performance improvement I did to my car (before adding the KB) However, I will say that if he plans on going with a positive displacement blower in the near future 4.10's are not the gear to get. I have no traction in 1st, 2nd and part of 3rd with my current setup. I will probably be adding some BFG Drag Radials when the rainy season ends.

well if he does alot of highway driving then 3.73's are , but if it's more street driving with hardly any highway then 4.10's FTW don't fear teh gear


for a centri S/C =4.10's

for a twin screw = 3.73's

Yea the auto's need 4.10's.

After changing the plugs and oil, put in a new fuel filter and some seafoam.

I just put some in my car today and let me tell you....BEST 5 DOLLARS I HAVE EVER SPENT! Really though, I noticed a difference right away. It got rid of my hanging RPM's, and my throttle response improved greatly.

Don't let anyone tell your 4.10's is too much gear for an automatic. I drive my car all over the country with 4.10's. After that, do another $30,000 worth of mods and you'll have a 9 or 10 second daily driver.

My car is stock exp cat bac and k&n with the air box mod.. I have 109,000 and i can punch it and the car gets side ways and it has no problems turning the tires over and i have a automatic as well..It seems to have a little lag but i think thats cuz my cats are going bad cuz my car dose make a wired smell..But thats soon to change with a off road mid pipe..

How in the hell do you spin your tires with traction control on??? If i have traction control on and i try to spin my tires my engine bogs down. Now i don't know if you haven't updated your mod list in your signature or what but i have more mods done to my car than you and i have never in my two years of driving my car been able to chirp the tires at 40-50mph. Maybe if i did a nuetral drop than i could chirp em but thats it. How are you doing this???

i highly doubt you can spin the tires with T/C on by just giving it gas froma stand still cause when i had the stock gearing it would bog the car down with the slightest hint of wheel spin, now with T/C off its a different story and with 3.73's it'll break them easier

I know my car was not a tire burner stock but I would just walk away from pre 98 cars badly. have you actually raced? spining the tires and being faster are two different things.

It is also an auto convertable. that is not a very fast car stock. there is no worse combination in stock form for 1/4 mile that an auto convertable.

I have a neighbor with an auto vert and I destroy him. he did not really buy the car for all out fast though. I was just shocked at how easily I walked him.

lol aside form doing a burn out(spinning tires ) a 99+ stang should be able to walk a fairly sotck 96-98 NPI GT anyday i know i used to race against my friends 98' alot. If the 99' cant beat it then there is something seriously wrong with the driver

My traction control works, it works if I start going sideways, works good in rain but in snow as most people know it makes the car go nowhere so I turn it off. If I want to smoke them, then I turn it off but as I said In my previouse post it is easy to break the tires with out any problems with it on. As for chriping the tires at 40-50ish. I did it again the other day and my mods are what are on my mod list. I know 2 other people had this car before I bought it in October but I don't think it has anything else. I think I have stock gears, I am at 2,100 at 75mph.

One time a few coworkers were begging for a burnout. I got in the car, turned it on, and proceeded to burn the tires sitting in the parking space. They started smoking and then the car bogged down. I had forgotten to turn the t/c off. So yeah it's possible. I've done it twice forgetting about the t/c, then wondering if I just broke my car doing a burnout. Plus it's alot easier with less tread on the tires.

As for chirping the tires... My car was relatively new to me and I was driving through Atlanta and had to stop in the emergency lane. Traffic was pretty heavy so I had to wait for an opening. I was coasting about 10mph, then floored it. Got up to 60mph and it shifted and chirped the hell out of the tires. I hadn't really gotten on it full throttle that much so I was impressed.

The traction control kicks in when the spin of the tires gets out of control. It will allow a certain degree of spin its seems as long as the rear does not step out.
