2001 Mach 460 6 Disc Problem

I have a 2001 Mustang Bullitt with the Mach 460 6 disc changer sound system, it was working (minus the occasional stuck CD) until today. After buying a new fuel cap I disconnected the battery for 10 minutes to get the check fuel cap light to go off. I reconnect the battery, then I start the car and the Cd player starts checking the slots for CDs. After it's done checking it displays a CD ERROR message. Now it's saying there are 6 CDs in the changer and all slots are full, but there really aren't any CDs in there at all. When I try to load a cd It says it's full, and when I try to play or eject a CD slot (that's actually empty) I get the CD ERROR message again. I've disconnected and reconnected the battery several times, but it doesn't help. Any help at all would be greatly appreciated.
