The plastic manifold section sandwiched between the metal coolant crossover and the cylinder head cracked and lost coolant. Anybody heard of this problem?

No more warrantee, local dealer quoted $1240 repair cost! OUCH!!!!!!

that price is way to high...

BTW I just installed a new metal crossover PI intake tonight on my car and it lasted 5 minutes before the drivers side rear started to leak coolant. The manifold caps a coolant passage there and it failed right in that spot.

I had to take a rental car from my work to get home because I did this intake just before we clsoed.

I did'nt pay for it, I got the new intake to replace my old plastic crossover one under the recall.

I hope I don't have a problem with the service part failure now, I got paid to do this job about a month ago and the repair order was closed out. The intake sat in the back seat of the car untill I stoped being lazy.

Kind of funny this happend. I took off a perfectly good plastic crossover PI intake that did not leak and put on a metal crossover intake just becuase I could. and now that intake is leaking

How do you know if your manifold is leaking?

You should get the new intake that just came out...forgot what it was called. 5.0 Mustang just did an article on it about picking up 25hp from it. Just and idea...I know when I break something I like to upgrade the part

The aluminiun one in the 5.0 mag looks nices but for $700-800 thats too much for 25 hp and 25 is mostly way up high. Just my .02

Wow so now the "upgraded" aluminum crossover intakes are failing. Do i hear a second class action lawsuit in the future
I'm glad my Intake doesn't have any plastic at all.

Sounds like the perfect time to find out about the new Performance Plus Typhoon 2V aluminum intake manifolds, they're supposed to be available soon and cost about $550 for the satin finish or $700+ for the polished version. Also the FFRP Bullet aluminum intake could be a way to go though is about $1,200 plus and you can't use your same throttle body. Ofcourse neither option includes installation.

Bring it to me...I'll do it for 500...parts included.

It's not a tough job but I'd be concerned on why it cracked...it worries me since my low coolent light came on the other day. May have to check to make sure mine hasn't sprung again.

your most likely out of the recall date...seven years..depending on your in service date. If your gonna go to ford you better go now.

Typhoon = Professional Products = Made in China = Junk
If its anything like the knockoff 5.0 Intakes they make it will be garbage also.

So you're saying I need to trade my 2004 off just before the warranty expires?

The typhoon looks like a metal version of the plastic intake. Why would it produce more horsepower?

Yep, called yesterday and I am out of luck. I am going to call again though and see if they will do it out of goodwill. Never know, worth a shot. A PI intake will not work with stock heads right? Who makes a replacement for the stock one that has the aluminum runner (cheaper than Ford $491.00)?
