2004 DSG GT w/ HID's (too many acronyms!)

last weds. i put in a set of Bi-Xenon HID's from www.stangmods.com and went out and took some pictures...

This is the Bi-Xenon 9007 Kit in 6000*K

and i took and edited the photos.

I think Mustangs look stupid with HID and when someone blinds me with them it makes me real angry...

no they dont. HIDs should have come standard on the mustang. Until you drive a car that has them, you have no idea how amazing HIDs are

they look great BTW now you just need to get the matching fogs

looks good. IMO mustangs actually look a lot better with HID's

+1 for matchin fogs.

i actually believe 4300k is the closest to pure white with no blueish hue, if im not mistaken.

i just read up on them, it seems that the 4300 is the closest to white light

I like the look of HID's. Unfortunately our cars were not designed for them and tend to cause nasty glare which like kt said will blind people. Cars that were designed with them in mind actually tend to blind me less then alot of regular halogen lights do.

You won't pass inspection if it lacks a high beam.

I love my HIDs. KT is just against anything that isn't motorcraft. The day motorcraft sells HIDs, he's so in.

I hate driving in cars without HIDs. I feel like the lights aren't even on.

i just looked at the site. they said nothing about bulb being bi-level....am i missing something?

Except that HID headlights are a system. You are still missing the biggest part of the system which is the HID projector lens which directs the HID light with a sharp cutoff.

HID's in a car properly equipped from the factory = best lights ever

HID's in a car with halogen reflectors = blind everyone you see.

BTW, Mustangs will have OEM HID's in 2008

YES.

EXCEPTION: Say you have a model car that has HID's from the factory. Let's say a Nissan Maxima. Yours has the normal halogen headlights and you want HID's. SInce the max has the option of HID's for that model design, it would be legal for you to convert to HID ONLY if you use the OEM factory HID setup.

In other words, the Mustang will have HID's as factory optional equipment in 2008. That means the only way it would be legal for 05+ owners to put HID's in their car is if they use '08 OEM equipment.

The reason why everything else is illegal is obvious. You put a HID bulb in a halogen reflector and it glares like crazy and will blind people. I get blinded all the time by people with HID kits in their stock headlights. You also need to remember that in the rain, all this glare comes back into your eyes as well. Nothing you can do other than retrofit an HID projector.

A real HID setup has a nice sharp cutoff line like this. No blinding people above that line. I love driving in cars with OEM HID setups. You can see for miles and no glare issues for you or other people. HID retrofits don't have that same classy feel to me. It feels cheap because it's not OEM. It's almost like a wanna-be HID setup. Just my opinion

NOW, after all that wanna hear something funny?? Oh you are gonna love this. Up until a few weeks ago, i HAD an HID kit on my GT. I took it out though

It would be better, but those aftermarket projectors are just peices of crap. If OEM projector lamps are like mercedes benz's, these Mustang projector lamps are like Geo Metros. The quality is not the same.

If you want to do HID's right, this is the way to go (although still not legal)

omg thats a lot of information to digest...it would cost roughly about the same for a lot better quality

the hard part is the wiring fab work
