Yeah, I got my 2010 Stang and Bolt-ons Tahoe, I turn both "tracs" off soon as I get in, either way, hence my "trac mixup" But, Either way, once he turned it off the car does what it was intended to do.. All these stability controls in todays cars actually can become dangerous for a good driver that uses them on a road course, when you set the car up for a power-out of a turn with oversteer, and as it begins the car shuts down or applies brakes, THAT can ruin a day..lol... With the exception of ABS all of these stability control are for people that arent used to a car that can do things it was intended for..I remeber when old days you get into a fox body stang with a set of 3.73's and burnout all over the road holding on for dear life..lol..thats how you learn, these new cars are getting more and more restricted... Thank god for tuners and the ability (at least up till now) to turn them off when you wanna enjoy the cars for what they were built for.. I mean, if anyone anywhere that has a Mustang, whether its their 1st or 30th, and doesnt want to know that the iconic american ponycar they are driving can burn rubber they shoulda bought a prius!! Just my 2 cents....

Yeah, this is my fifth Mustang and the only one that hasn't been overly easy to break the tires loose with!!

I actually like the AdvanceTrac for everyday driving but it can get scary and weird if you're performance driving and used to being able to spin tires or throw the back end out on a turn...not that I have many opportunities to do that anymore.

haha, well enjoy it, and, at least you know you can hold down the brake and that button if and when you want to! haha Some gears and a torque converter and a nice tune and oh boy do the auto's get wild though.. maybe a lil ways down the road.....

You can actually get a little spin in Sport Mode! I think I'd prefer it for just everyday screwing around.

That was why I was so surprised to find that when I turned off the traction control the tires wouldn't spin...I assumed that AdvanceTrac was turned off at the same time.

Sport Mode is like a less intrusive version of AdvanceTrac. It will let you spin the tires some and have a little bit of fun...but if you step on the gas on wet pavement while rolling and the car starts to go sideways it will step in and apply engine/brake management. Don't ask me how I know this

FWIW, I had Stabilitrak in a Cadillac CTS that I owned and it completely sucks compared to Ford's AdvanceTrac. For one thing, I could easily spin the tires on wet pavement from a stop (tires might have been somewhat to blame) when I DIDN'T want to...and believe me, the CTS didn't have anywhere near the HP/Torque of the Mustang. The traction control didn't do much to control the traction.

Funny, my 2010, in drive, with just a normal fast push of the trac control button will roast em from an idle, no powerbraking, all the way through first, into second, and then chirp third.
no chip, no long button press...

I also do quick 180's in front of work to turn the car around on a narrow road instead of doing a three point turn for "safety" reasons (officer)....

Strange how the same cars can be so different.

anyone else get a "double"shift of sorts?
on the 2-3 shift, it will shift to third @ say 6k, then back to second, and back into third, all in about .5 second.... it sounds like a manual that misses a shift, and gets it right real quick...

It depends what gears and wheels you have! 3.55's and 18" wheels will burn easy from a stop, 3.31's and 19's, much more effort to turn! Its all about your cars options!

3.31 and 18" on mine.

I think the OP is doing something wrong. There is no need to powerbrake to get the tires going....from idle, floor it, when the tires start spinning, back off a little, and give a little steering input to keep it fishtailing.
if you lock it in 1st, it will bounce off the rev limiter, and roast untill you let off.

btw, i need tires. i have 28k on my 2010, and about 2/32 tread depth....any suggestions?

Yeah, they almost all burn right off the line, even in drive, but I know with the 19's my car (when it was stock, 5 speed manual w/ 3.31's and the 19's) it wouldnt even think of spinning unless i dropped the clutch, however my friend has the same year (2010) with 3.55's and the factory 18" wheels and from a roll u can stomp the gas and burnout off the rev-limiter... I'm guessing the OP mite have a loaded, automatic, 3.31 car, with the 19" wheels..in that case, it is MUCH harder to just casually roast up the tires..lol just my .02 cents

lol, I coulda put money on it..but I decided to guess..lol...well, if you upgrade w/ your gears life will change, but those 19's are very expensive..mine came with them and i sold them for 18's...lol

Ah, I like the 19's and the car is fast anyway....can probably use the extra traction considering I'm driving on wet pavement 99% of the time too. I'll upgrade the engine before downgrading the wheels.

Oh without a doubt they are nice, I just wanted a more versatile wheel size with more tire choices, the 19's offer limited tire sizes, and NONE are cheap! I was going to go to 20" but the tires were still expensive, and the ride would suffer a lil, but, keep in mind I also change rear tires every oil change, lol, so the cost comes into play much more often for me! And yeah, either way, enjoy your car and have fun!!
