Drivetrain 2011 v6 - loud and stiff clutch whines

Hey all,

I recently purchased a standard 2011 v6 with a pony package and the clutch is extremely stiff, inconsistent, it whines really hard when I press down on it and it grinds my gears every now and then if I don't take it easy. I have always driven standard so it's not a driver issue. I'm fairly certain the throwout bearing is shot.

I'm looking into a new sporty clutch (stage 1 should do) but I have no idea what I should go for. And secondly, would the stock flywheel fit a new aftermarket clutch or should it be replaced?

Geez, no replies in a week - we gotta do better here.

Exedy (not sure what works on the V6ers) and McLeod's RST seem to be popular and reliable. I suggest that you call them and ask what they would recommend for your application. Street manners, track time, adding a blower or other power adder, etc. are factors. If you run a lighter (or heavier) flywheel then the tune needs to be adjusted accordingly so you get the behavior that you want on the street and track (if you hit the track from time to time).
