Hi, my cars been built on april 8th and just now (Still hasnt been shipped/sitting in shipping yard) my dealer says that Ford has recalled it for a part in the engine... what kinda BS is this S**T? does anyone know of any recall on the engines?! I finally backed out of the deal and am currently looking for a terminator.

Anyone know of any engine recall? or had the same thing as this happen to them?

I beleive there is a delay because there is more of a demand for the 5.0 in the F-150's than the Mustang. Dealers still have plenty of 5.0's on the lot.

BTW, put your order back in. The Terminator is nothing compare to the new 5.0 buddy.

Good luck.

ive driven 5.0's before.. they do not feel like they have 412 horsepower. Mod for mod and dollar for dollar.. the terminator is equal too or exceeds the performance levels of the 5.0

Dyno don't lie. If anything they are more than 412hp. I think it was how quiet and smooth the car is that get you. My first drive test, i was shock at how smooth and quiet the car is. You might have driven a 3.31 manual or 3.15 automatic 5.0, they feel much tamer. that might make you feel they are less than 412hp. Drive a 3.73 geared GT and you will change your mind.

So you mean to tell me you can put a CAI and Tune on a Cobra and go 11's?? And that being the ONLY MOD to the Cobra? Give me a break.

The 5 liter will out run the Cobra mod vs mod and the 5 liter is NA and not even blown.

We have been 11.80's with only Steeda CAI, Tune and Nitto tires. A Cobra isn't doing that and it will have 10psi going down it's throat.

BTW, it makes 410 to the tires on this setup.

In two independent dyno tests by Edmunds and MotorTrend, the 5.0 pulled 395 RWHP and 378 RWHP. So it is believed the 5.0 is actually underrated by Ford (for insurance purposes?) and produces 420-450 horsepower. If I remember correctly, MototTrend believes the 5.0 Coyote produces 435hp.

I just logged into the FMCdealer.com and looked up recalls for the past 6 months and NOTHING for the 5.0L engine. You dealer is basically an a$$hole. Find another dealership and get the 2012 the Terminator is no match for a 2012 not just the engine but the the entire car (05-12) is far superior to the SN-95 which is a derivative of the Fox chassis designed in the mid 70's

Just remember the newest Terminator you can find will still be a 7 year old car with all the problems associated with an older car.

i drove a new 2003 cobra it felt fast but not the same felling as the new 5.0. then last year i drove a modded up 2003 cobra, ran very low 11s. iam going for a new 5.0 if i find a good deal on one, both are nice.

No you can change the pulley on the blower and go 11's or better. I'd rather have the 5.0 but don't take a 03-04 Cobra lightly.

Apples to oranges. Only thing they really have in common is they are both made by Ford. 2 completely different cars top to bottom.

A pullied terminator can achieve 450rwhp+ easily.. can a 5.0 mustang do that without getting into the engine? no. Give the cobra the same mods as the new 5.0 has and id bet it will run similar times. Every performance shop has dyno'd stock 5.0's and they are around 350-360 rwhp. flip through the pages of MM&FF or 5.0 mustang and super fords and youll see plenty of stock dyno tests. I wouldnt take a terminator lightly.. if you end up meeting a terminator owner with a few mods, im certain he'll give you a good race. The 5.0 is a badass engine, dont get me wrong, but the terminator makes more hp/torque cheaper and easier than the 5.0 does sorry for all you coyote fan boys in here.

I drove a 3.55 geared 5.0 with the 6 speed... and i ordered a 3.73 geared 5.0 with the 6 speed, leather interior and brembos. So either way, terminator or 5.0. its win for me.

The Terminator is still just a tired, old, platform of a car with a great engine. It's badass, but it's a brutal ride compared to the S197's. Like riding in a go-kart. Not to mention, nice stock to mild modded Terminators are increasingly hard to find. I looked for about 4 months before I decide to abort that mission and get an S197. The 5.0's have killed the resale on the Terminators but the T- owners haven't accepted it yet. Why would anybody spend 25$ on a 30K miles 8 year old terminator when they can get a new 5.0 for a few grand more?

Cause the terminator is the definition of Badass.. I'd still take a stock oxford white 2004 cobra over the 5.0.. just because thats my dream car.

The 5.0 doesn't have the smoothest ride ever.. It's not leaps and bounds better than my lowered 2004 gt. The Brembo brakes make the car stop great, but not that great. I feel as though if i wanted to stop quickly, id have to jam on the brake pedal, hard. My 335i with a little over 13in rotors all the way around stops on a dime and it stops quickly no matter what. Those brakes saved my ass so many times with bad drivers.

The 5.0 has a nice power band all the way up to redline, but for some reason the bmw, which is twin turbo'd and has 300hp/trq feels faster.. Idk why but it does. Now dont BITCH, i know the 5.0 is faster. The 2012 looks like a pig compared to my 04' and the Bmw. It also lacks the agility of the bmw as the bmw gives you more confidence in the corners.

All-in-all the 5.0 is one badass ride, no matter what. It shifts smoothly, at WOT or just cruising, has excellent throttle response, and forces itself to go. The seats hug you and are so comfortable, they look like my Dad's 69' mach 1 seats, which is what i like as well. The interior could use a little work around the shifter.. the cup holders should be placed differently. In my opinion.

With a few simple mods it should feel a lot better. It definently needs lower rear control arms and a upper 3rd link to prevent wheel hop. And it needs a new exhaust system, to let the coyote howl. Also, im comparing the 5.0 to the BMW cause Ford compared there car to the BMW M3. So dont flame me on that.

i dnt understand the argument of supercharged car vs a NA one. u cant say mod for mod in the discuission cuz u do u have to add a supercharger to the 5.0 or pull the one off the terminator to do mod for mod. i love the terminator but fk the new 5 liter is a monster. supercharge is and youre well inot the 10's plus u can get a base model for 29. while a terminator is still jst shy of 20,000 dollars. i love the cobras but id put my money in the 5.0

Hell a simple intake swap and tune will net nearly 450HP on the 5.0. That's Terminator with a pulley territory. Terminators are fun, and I love them but there is no comparison between them and the new 5.0. Put a twin screw on the 5.0 and the Cobra don't stand a chance.

CAI/tune wont get 450 rwhp out of a coyote motor... but yes, with a twin screw itll beat the terminator. But if you put a twin screw on the terminator then it evens up the match.

The SN-95's IMO are horrific to drive, you have door panel in your shoulder and no matter where you position the seat you have to reach half way into the radio to shift gears. No comparison with the 05+ cars, I'd rather have my 3valve 4.6 then a Termi just for the driving comfort alone.

Amen and glad I went that route myself. Can't imagine still being stuck in a SN95...and paying 20k+ to do it.

I think that "horrific" might be too strong a word but I mostly agree. Compared to the s197 the SN-95s offer a less the stellar all around driving experience, but you cant taking anything away from the 03-04 Cobras, they were rough and unrefined almost crude compared to our cars but they are fast as hell and ridiculously responsive to mods . 5.0 boys your cars are awesome no question, but all i'm saying is that if you pull up next to a 03-04 Cobra at a light expecting an automatic kill, you may be surprised.
