285/35ZR-18 too big?

On my stock 99 GT, I had the 275's in front. when I dropped it, I had to step down to 255's

oy! i can't decide. each of you, please tell me what to buy for my setup, tire brand is nitto 555, wheel is '00 cobra r 18X9.5, and mods are listed below. thanks

I never said it wasn't for width. Re-read my post....I was telling him how to go about selecting a wheel and tire package, unlike others who have just simply said this will work or that will work. It's not that simple. If you will go up and read it again the first thing I say before getting into the math is that the offset will determine how wide you can go up front. For example, when I had my 17 X 9, 95 cobra R replicas with 275/40's up front, the car barely rubbed at full lock (and I stress barely). Now I have the 18 X 9.5 Cobra R's with the same width and they don't rub at all. They are a half inch wider but yet they don't rub, and it's because of the offset. I mean obviously there is a limit to how wide you can go up front. But if you want to maximize the space you have it's much more difficult than just grabbing a wheel and saying this size tire is the widest you can go unless you know something about the offset of the wheel.

I have a set of Centerline Wheels 18x9.5 on all four corners with 275/35/18's on all four wheels. No rubbing issues as of now. But when I lower the Stang . I'm planning on installing a set of H&R SS springs. They're good for a 1.75"(front) & 1.6"(rear) drop. I think it's going to look BAD @$$ !!!!!

Hmmmm....donno....my Roush came with 9" wide rims for the rear. How wide are yours?

there are three factors, wheel width, tire size, and offset. don't listen to anyone that does not have your wheel setup because it does not really appy to you. if you have 9.5 rim you will have quite a bit of backspacing though.

why run 9.5 up front? 9.5 is usually more money.

I am ordering 315/30 zr 18's on 18x10 boyds for the rear. 265/35 zr 18's on 18x9 boyds on the front. Will I have to roll the fenders in the back to fit. I am lowered 2.75 in the front and 1.5 in the rear.

Because the authentic y2k R's are 9.5 inches wide. That's it if you want the real thing.

Listen to this guy...he and I are on the same page.
