2nd gear grind when cold or hard shifting

hey guys I have a T5 w/ adjustable clutch cable and a dual friction clutch. The tranny shifts great except for sometime when the car is cold it will grind 2nd when i put it in too quicly coming out of 1st. Most of the time if i just let it go gently (let it pop into the middle then into 2nd not just hard and strait in to it) it wont grind at all. Also coming from anywhere else it wont grind. Is this a normal thing like me just having to learn the tranny better or is it a bad syncro?

are you running gear grease or atf?if you have atf then you probably have a bad synchro.

what is involved with replacing a syncro? how much labor and parts?
