I suppose i should explain what i'm trying to do and what i need to know. I'm working on building a new motor for my 03 gt. I'm planning on using Patriot Performance Stage II heads and cams with a Typhoon or Bullit intake. I would like to go with the 05 or later block for weight savings. I'm just wondering if i can save some time and money by useing a factory assembled short block from an 06 without haveing to worry about piston to valve cleareance or any other issues.

But arent the 05+ blocks alot weaker than our blocks. I was reading where the blocks were cracking at like 500 hp.

I know the early aluminum blocks are the best (i've been devouring Sean Hyland's engine building book). The reason i'm asking what i am is because i've got the chance to buy an 06 short block with 1800 miles on it for $200. That's the only reason i'm asking. Also i don't plan on exceeding 450hp on this car since it's staying NA. Thanks.
