2v Intake Question

Im looking at buying a intake for my 99GT. I am going to be spraying about 150-200 to it so i am going to for sure need to get rid of that plastic junk. I only know of 3 intakes that are good for the street/track for 2v. Edlebrocks victor jr, trickflows track heat, and professional products typhoon. Which one would be the best for the money? Are there more intakes out there that i just dont know about? Thanks guys.

BTW, MMR just came out with an adapter plate for the edlebrock intake that allows you to use your stock throttle body and plenum on that intake. So now you dont have to buy a $200 plenum from edlebrock!!

Thats still a healthy shot. Have you looked into the Hardball'r intake? I've heared too many bad things about the PP typhoon(people say you need to grind out some of the casting flash inside it), the TFS one has a good reputation though. The stock intake will hold a 150 shot, just make sure you don't spray any lower than 3 grand and you should be good

I've also heard good things about the THR Hardball'r intake. The Fox Lake P-51 is also a very good choice, but it is pricey.

I had the Typhoon and it was a good intake manifold for the price, but required lots of dremel work to clear out the casting flash. Next one I buy will be the Trickflow Trackheat, it takes the Bullitt design and improves on the lower runners. Compared to stock, hardballer, or typhoon, it will generate very noticable gains in the low end which is what you'll need because you shouldn't spray until 3k RPM.

Hardball'r +10000 best intake I have tested so far! Not on my car but friends.

01 cobra internals arent going to help you out,u may have the forged crank now but you still have **** rods.i wouldnt spray over 150 on that.

Yep, crank is forged... rest is chit.

I know of two people that have sprayed a 200 shot on stock internals. 1 made it, 1 didn't.

One is on here, 04GTMustangs' survived but I think he said he only sprayed it once at a 200 shot. The other guy was in our local group and he destroyed a piston after a short amount of runs.

The Hardball'r and the Typhoon are virtually exact copies of the PI manifole - one is steel, one is aluminum. I haven't read any performance reviews of the Hardball'r, but it's definitely beefy enough to handle gobs of boost/nitrous. The P-51 has dyno proven gains of about 15rwhp on a bone stock 4.6v engine - but it's almost $1300.00 with the required fuel rails, alt mount, etc. I've been hesitant to buy a new intake manifold since selling my Typhoon in case I decide to use part of my tax return for this year on a TorkTech unit

The Edelbrock is a great high-RPM intake with it's short runners, but I doubt it would do much for retaining any low end. It would be fine for nitrous because it is aluminum and it's a pretty short/straight shot for the nitrous to flow into the cylinders.

Do you have any dyno sheets? I have been looking at the hardballer and have been concerned with the shorter runners since I run a vortech and cant afford to loose any low end power. what kind of gains did you see?

That BBK intake that is coming out *hopefully soon* is the best, in theory, that I've seen yet with its dual length runners that are controlled via butterfly valves.

yeah but who knows when that bbk unit is going to come out.but if and when that happens the that would be the one to have by theory.
