I bought a 71 FB mustang, that needs a motor and trans. Any reason a 2wd truck engine trans won't fit? Also, can I just R&R the injected manifold and swap on a carburetor, or is there more to it than that? I've always just been able to get a car for a donor, and am not seeing one today.

any 302 289 351 will engine will fit. You will have to use motor mounts for the mustang not the truck. Throw the fuel injected manifold away and simply bolt on the carburetor manifold on.

I bought an 84 F150, 5.0 and auto trans, good running truck, for 800.
I'll post some pics when I get time to take some!

If the truck hs an AOD trans you might need a different crossmember or you can modify the original one. It it has a C4, no prob.

I didn't notice an O/D on the column, I think it's a 3 speed.

What was the stock wheel size on a 71, 14 or 15 inches?

The C4 wasn't used in 84. If it's an automatic trans, it has to an AOD or a C6. The wheels on most 71 applications would be 14 inch unless the car was a big block or performance model.

The car was a "1F02F", 302 2V sports roof. So 14's it is! That works for me, as I have an extra set I can put on the car...
