3.73 gear owners. shout out!

If all you care is how much the difference your stock gear will be compare to other gear, then everybody knows for the fact the steeper gear will makes your call pull harder for sure.

So my point is.. what's the point of this thread? Don't take this the wrong way, but I can assure you than the people with 3.73, or 4.10 or other will say, "I can/can't really feel the difference" That is all to it.

P.S. I can already feel the hate.. if not my imagination.. but sometimes.. you just gotta speak the truth.

This question is for the owners of 3.73 gears. What kind of differences did you feel after changing from the stock 3.27's? Second gear chirps? does 5th pull alot harder? Thanks.

Go for it man :nice: , every gear pulls harder of course, but honestly 5th is almost identical, which is awesome. You can tear through gears, then switch to 5th and get the milage. 4.10's are the way to go if you dont plan on serious power, with my plans for a novi2000 blower i didn't want more than 3.73's, but i wish i had them for now until i get the s/c...

P.S. Dont be afraid to ask questions, all your newbie questions will get some haze but its the only way to learn.

Thats cool man.

My point is asking people what kind of difference they felt. I have read many threads about gears. gas mileage is not an issue. and I have used the links posted about the difference in rpm's at different mph's. Those links were helpful by the way. I asked the question the way I did because all the threads end up being about 4.10's and dont fear the gear.

The reason I bought 3.73's and not the 4.10's is because i cruise 80-90 on the freeway all the time, and having the car being at 3,000 grand or above when going 90, would irritate me after awhile. My baby is my daily driver for the time being. I do like how the engine is real relaxed as it is currently.

In the end, I just wanna hear how people like the 3.73's so i can feel justified about my purchase. Is that such a bad thing?

I had a tough time making any sense of what I tried reading above??? anyway, "don't take this the wrong way" but what is the point of your response? At least give some input to the guy about 3:73's, geeze.

SonicBlue, I like my 3:73's, basically the general consensus is if you are gonna plan on making your car have crazy power(NOS, Blower, Turbo etc) then don't go to steep(for example: 4:10's, 4:30's).... ALSO, i noticed with my 3:73's that it's actuallly more comfortable crusing speeds, you can cruise at around 45mph in 5th compared to stock gears you are too low to accelerate. yes obviously it pulls harder in 5th cause its hitting the powerband quicker, not a crazy difference, but noticable, and chirping you can do with stock gears, thats just driving ability. good luck :nice:

and for the rest of you wanna be nazi's, if you aren't gonna help the guy out, no point in posting. :notnice:

While I'm also a newbie to this site, :stupid:
I like my 3.73s. I went with them because I knew I'd be adding a s/c. There's definitely more pull than the 3.27s, and because of the different/slightly higher cruising rpms, it quieted the drone from my prochamber.

Thanks Blakers01gt. I have read enough posts to know that people are getting sick of the gear threads, but damn.... it was like 'get a rope' for a bit there. Thats why i posted for just folks with the 3.73's not everybody else.

Anyways, thanks for the postive feedback from those that did. I am planning on getting them at installed at JBA here next month. And yes I will pay out the ying-yang, but I know that it will be done right. Im looking forward to it

went from 3.27 to 3.73 ....woke the car up a bit....first gear revs out a bit quicker, but worth it in the rest of the gears. Complimented my nitrous very nicely. I agree with the others: N/A, 4.10's are great, N20, or forced induction, stay a 3.90 or lower. Goodluck!

someone made a comment that 4:10's are ok if your not planning on making serious power. how much is serious power? (N/A not blown)

serious power is usually a blown application, probably 350RWHP and up, and since our cars put out a good amount of torque, that makes a steep gear alot harder to work with once you get in the 300-400RWHP range.
