3 73s installed... vibration at 120km/hr and up now

Da'Sousa racing in Millton, Ontario installed my gears and i immediately noticed a vibration at at higher highway speeds. I have basic mods like Professional Intake and BBK headers so im not tearing up the drivetrain but im curious if this shaft can handle all this pavement pounding.

BTW i did have the vibration before but at like 175 - 180km/hr. I know the gears changed the spinning of the DS duhh,

BUT will this puppy pop out??? I still want to rip 3rd and 4th

It wont pop out. Just vibrate like a son of a bitch at highway speeds. The harmonics changed and you either need to get the original drive shaft rebalanced or get an aluminum one. I had the same problems and got an frpp drive shaft locally and vibrations stopped right away.

Your driveshaft is spinning faster now at 120 km/h. What gears did you have before? I'll bet it is spinning now just as fast at 120 km/h now as before at 175 km/h with stock 2.73s. (If you did have 2.73s)

After I had my 3.73 installed my stock 20lb rear driveshaft would vibrate at any speed over 165kph. A new FRPP aluminium driveshaft (only 11lb) cured the problem and now my Stang is vibration-free even at 200kph.

i highly doubt anything will break with messing around and taking it up high. just will vibrate and cause a rough ride.

when you do finally address the situation, do yourself and favor and get the FMS alum DS.

i fought the same vibration problems with my gears installed and i kept dinking around trying to get new DSs and etc. i was hesitant at first spending that much on a DS but i am glad i did, well worth the cash for the nice alum piece. better balanced. pulled it straight out of box and bolted it on the car COMPLETELY fixed my vibrations, smooth as silk as high as i have taken it lol
