3.90 gears???

yes, they're good gears. Motive makes gears for all sorts of cars and trucks. some people will say get nothing but FRPP. thats all personal preference to me. as long as the mechanic doing the gear install does it right, there should be no difference in what brand gears they are. I know theres something about FRPP gears that makes the install easier, but im not quite sure what it is.

if you cant decide between 3.73s and 4.10s, 3.90s are a good medium.

I've read good and bad things about Motive. Some say they are noisy, some don't. My most reputable local gear installer once commented that he refused to install them anymore, because they are manufactuered overseas instead of in the US, which (again according to him) has affected the quality.

noise is a install problem. I would stay with 3.73 and 4.10 just because I can get a speedometer gear to match . The Ford Racing gears are nice because they have the endplay markings on the gears and I can use those measurements and get the correct shims usually the first time and takes no time to install.

You cannot use gears on 99+ mustangs to correct the speedo. You have to get a speedcal or a chip. The speedometer is electronically controlled.

Im running 3.90s and I love em.
