3 point seatbelts

Looking to increase safety by a little in my 66 coupe, So I'm upgrading from the original 2 point lap seats that I currently have to a set of 3 point shoulder and lap seat belt.
Anyone have pics of their setups? I've seen people mount them in the roof but I've also seen people mount them in the back fender.

Also, where did you guys get em?

They come for 59.95/Ea but in burgundy, i'm looking for more of a red. but I guess black also goes with a red interior.

Come for 69.95 Each but they come in 27 different colors and come with Chrome buckles.

anyone know how much the buckles come for?
Cause I've seen the ones with the Ford symbol on em, and some with the Mustang symbol on em.

and maybe I'll get the 4 pts for the back seats... just cause they're cheaper for some reason 49.95each but they only come in black
 
I've searched the threads I just thought there ought to be one that liek has all the information in one place.


For what I can remember, its better to mount them in the roof, because it wouldnt compress your spine in a accident.
Oh yah I forgot about that, I knew that, that condition existed in 4 point seat belts but i now that I think about it, it also applies to 3 point as well.

Another question:

Has anyone mounted head rests on their stock bucket seats? I found one link before but it was like 200 $ for the head rest... thats like :eek:
 
Yeah they are like that in a few of the GM and dodge cars and trucks. There is a guy who put seats like that from a seabring in his 73 mustang convertible. He did a great job on the install, but it required a lot of modification to the floor and I didn't really like the look of those big ol seats in there.

Still, yeah I forgot about that, maybe I should consider going that way again.
 
I purchased the seats from restoretruck.com last month. The price was good but shipping was expensive. He is located in CA and I am in Southwest Washington. He had them drop shipped from a place in Portland, OR (literally less than 1 mile from my office) and charged me over $20. Still much cheaper than the "mustang" seat belt conversions. I am mounting them in my convertible by the way and you won't even be able to tell they aren't factory. No stupid looking plates visible from the door jam.

I don't have any pics, the car is in the body shop right now. Here is what the body man and I came up with. On the B pilar ther is a little space between the metal for the interior and the door jam metal. On my 68 ther is also an existing hole where the seat belt will mount. The hold is only in the interior panel. The hold is slightly larger than the seat belt bolt. I cut a piece of 1/4" steel plate about 1" * 2". Then drilled and taped a hole in it that was 7/16 fine thread. I will weld it behind the interior panel. It is hard to get it in place but I drilled 3 small holes for spot welds to add extra streangth and help with mocking in up.

I purchased a 1.5 inch 7/16" grade 8 stud at the local hardware store. (the type you can put in with an allen wrench and does not have a head.) I will thread it into the steel plate to the correct depth. To add additional streanth I have a jam nut that will go on the jam side of the plate( where the excess stud in on the inside of the door). I won't be able to get a wrench in there so I will only do finger tight and use thread lock. After that is done I am going to weld the stud to the plate and the interior panel for additional strength. Drill a hole in the interior panel for the stud. Then put the seat belt in with a short locking nut.

The whole system won't be noticable from the outside and should be very strong. I hope this helps and sorry for the long post and not being able to put up a pic.

They're a 2005 gt mustang's seats. To me they look pretty similar to the old mustang's except they must feel so much better.
I just got a quote from the guy on ebay he said 250 for all the seats including the back. But his shipping quote was 500.... ugh!

Its so hard to find Red seats...:rolleyes:

If i changed the color of the interior it would've been a totally different paint job and all wats done is done i guess
