I got 3 pt seat belts from Andover Mustang. My question is how do I mount the 3rd point, theres no backplate for it. Should I just buy a back plate like the ones that go under the floorboards and use that? The 3rd point being the one that mounts at the shoulder height. I know many people use this setup just wondering how you did it...i've got all the other points figured out, just not that one since the kit didnt come with anything

You are talking about the top point of the harness I am guessing. I think they make backing plates or reinforcement plate. If I were you I would make my own and be cheap like that. But cheap does not mean good quality. If they offer a plate then get it...hands down.

You've got two options.
1) Weld a nut / structure to the roof. This will mess up the paint and is the most difficult choice, but some people prefer the pivot above their shoulder
2) Mount it to the back of the door jamb. This doesn't require welding, just drill a hole, and make a backing plate to reinforce it. I chose the second option, and like the setup very much. The belts are comfortable and easy to reach. Here's a link to my website that shows how I installed them.

I ahve a question, not to steal the thread, but if i wanted to do a 5 point racing seatbelt setup, i guess i would have to weld a bar in the back going across the seats if i dont have a roll cage correct, doing this would give me a place to mount the belts behind me?

That would be correct mustangmatt, make sure the bar is right at shoulder height so if something goes wrong the seatbelt will pull directly back and not down risking spinal cord injury...that would be bad.

No problem at all..That is some piece of information I have no regrets letting people know. My mom recently rolled her 2001 ford explorer and it was because she had her seatbelt on that she is still around. If she had gone over the embankment on the bridge she rolled on....well you get the picture.. It is a blessing from God she left with minor scratches from the glass.
